One ID I spoke to said he does not recommend cove lighting because his FSM said it is like a blade in the room. Don't know what it means or how to visualize it being a blade. Any comments?

according to FS, any sharp corners pointing at the bed is considered a "blade" as cove lighting creates a corner that points towards the bed. it might be considered a blade. but this part on false ceilings. some FSM say its considered a blade. some say false ceilings are not...

Sharp corners everywhere, verticle & horizontal "blade" everywhere. Beams, walls, pilers everywhere. Do not go extreme, no good.

If you know about it yet pretend it's not there, that uneasiness will consume you eventually.

Avoid it if you can help it. Better play safe.

To share my experience, how I counter act the beams,horizontal surfaces & doors:

-My pl is a 1978-built 5rm pt blk. Bought last yr, moved in this Jan. During 1st viewing, I noticed 4 very obvious beams (balcony-1, hall-2, kitchen-1), these beam abt 18 inch down from ceiling, 8 inch thick. I felt very "uneasy" & "eay-sore" about the beams, windows/doors facing good, 23 fl, abt 800 meter away from mrt (from map).

-Told ID abt my feeling & decided to do false ceiling (6 inch down) with PLC downlight, L-box, U-box & square-box, to make the beams less "visible".

-Purposely fix the ceiling-hock for bamboo stick, near the beam in kitchen.

- I made 8 wooden pilers (initially wanted round ones, but ID said hard to get/customise, unless use natural logs), from ceiling to floor. Because visually felt "too many" horizontal (all the boxes on celing)surfaces. Piles, sized at 5 x 4 inch, stand 3 at TV console, 2 at dinning, 3 at study.

- Hack away MBR door, shifted abt 1 ft toward right(view from o/s) to align it door-to door with another room.

-Hack wall, made a 44-inch width door, with 2-piece sliding glass dr between hall & kitchen. This door need to be "big" enoght to allow 2 persons passing through, feel more comfortable.

i think i have not heard this before, but for FS, believe is ok but not to superstitious.
