no no... i only want design. my contractor will do everything! including project management. But some contractors cannot help with design, they will just do what you want, so i need someone to just design, purely design, nothing else! then i will give the design to my contractor and tell him to work as close to it as possible.

There are also company's that do design only if you need. In regards to freelance I see no problem using one, just check to see if you can at least get one 3d or layout before setting aside a deposit. If you like the creativity of the designer, you can carry on with them and ask them to specify and prepare all detail drawings for your contractor.
