reuben82 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2010 Reuben, Like to share with us what is the design for the kitchen? Yea sure! I don't have a copy of his handsketched. Anyway, I try my best to explain in words....hahahaha... First, refer to the floor plan: Firstly, I plan to do a L-Shape bottom cabinets at the right hand side c/w top cabinets. On the left hand side, I want to have another set of bottom cabinets. CLC advised me that there are seriously too many cabinets. So what they proposed is L-Shape bottom cabinets remain, left hand bottom cabinet remain. The top one take it out. Change it to some open shelves. My dish rack will be side-way pull out like a vertical drawer. I think somewhere in renotalk here got someone did something like this. Forgot where I saw it. Anyway, after yesterday debate with my wife, CLC scored 1! hahahaha....Let's see further how it goes~~~~~~
blueocean 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2010 Hmm ... disk rack will be a side-way pull out ? Would that reduce the amount of ventilation to try the plates ? Why not just have it above the sink ? Are you keep the store room in your apartment or knocking it down ? Else it is always a good idea to have more cabinets To visualise whether there are too many cabinets which may make it look more cramp, it is usually easier to do a 3D mock-up of the kitchen with software packages. If you are quite IT savvy, you can try using Intericad Lite, they have a 14 day trial (although you cant save the work) where you can put cabinets in with different dimensions to try. When i was doing the planning before the renovations, i spent a lot of time doing 3D mock-ups as you can see the room from different angles and try different dimensions to see whether it looks nice. Bit lazy to do the 3D mock up. Hahaha....that's why we are willing to pay more to engage an ID to help us do all the 3D drawing. lol... Anyway, cant put the cabinet above sink as I'm having L-Shape and the sink was located at the L there at the back. hard to explain in words but will show you all when my 3D is out. After few days consideration, guess we are going for CLC. Anyway, I'm planning to do some window shopping on fridge, aircond and washing machine on Saturday. IMM or Tampines. Which one better? hehehe...Want to have alot of variety to look at!
blueocean 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2010 I bought my white goods from the big electrical stores. Although i am told that smaller shops give a better pricing ... how true is that ? I always find that the promotion for the goods vary week by week. And the salesman will always say that there is a delivery fee although it is delivered by the distributor .... Have you shortlisted the fridge and washing machine ? Must have all the measurements at hand though ... Bit lazy to do the 3D mock up. Have you shortlisted the fridge and washing machine ? Must have all the measurements at hand though ... Its very true. I have been doing that for the past 15+ years. Go to the big stores, check out their models, called up my friendly neighbourhood store, and got prices cheaper, sometimes by a few hundred dollars and yes, even if there are "sales"on........................ but.... pay in cash/cheque........... ossify 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) My fridge and w/m I got from Centrepoint Harvey Norman, went up to a group of salespeople chatting at the corner and tell them I want this and this and this is my price, waited about 10min for them to call to check for prices, before going to pay. But this was after I did a LOT of research on the lowest possible price on the 2 items I want So basically, any Harvey Norman should be able to give you the best price if you know how to ask for it. My aircon I just went to Natural Cool, gave the salesperson my floorplan, and got the cheapest aircon that fits my requirements. Not much space to bargain, but I did get some freebies Sad thing was that their installation team accidentally cracked one of my tile but that was fixed. I got further discounts off my final payment as a sign of goodwill. Edited May 21, 2010 by ossify
