vhardono 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 This cannot be about price. It's about design. Which do u prefer? most of ID/carpenter offer ABS trimming as standard but only this ID offer me aluminum trimming. I'm just curious whether he offered me because of the design or to save his own cost.
yoongf 11 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Which is more important? The Design or their profitability? ABS and Aluminium trims are not interchangeable. Each have their own stengths and weaknesses. It all depends on the design and cost structure of the contractor. My point is, FOCUS on the DESIGN.

bepgof 20 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) all the ID/contractors i spoke to says i'll have to top up for aluminium. only "Sky Creation" offers aluminium as standard but it costs 20% more than others Just for knowledge. ABS stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a kind of "plastic", rather "fragile" if thickness more than 2mm, will "crack" easily and color tone will change if subject to prolong heat & UV light..Some "pcv" pipe is actually PP material, some flexibililty, those bigger pipe use ABS material. For long run, Alu is better. Edited May 11, 2010 by bepgof

bepgof 20 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) bepgof, do u still remember is Baywater kitchen cabinet using ABS? I doubt so. Seldom touch kitchen stuff, my MIL's territory, sorry lah can't really remember. Unit sold in Sept 09. TOP 2006. ABS material usage in capentry is quite recently (~ 2 years). My present sliding wardrobes also partial using ABS sheet, instead of "laminate". Personally, I prefer Alu. for the trimming, hard & solid, though the color a bit dull. Next, my kitchen top is solid black granite "glaxy... don't know what", 16ft, cost me almost $1,500. Edited May 11, 2010 by bepgof
