ossify 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 Wow....a consultant, that's mean u r more knowledgeable than a main contractor, more design scent than a designer, know more about pros and cons on material. Like to ask, for doing tiling works, what is the percentage of normal cement + water + bonding agent(W1) + tile adhesive cement do they mix with? My contractor told me that some tiles need to soak with water some don't need...so what are the tiles need to soak with water and how we owners know the tiles need to soak or not? TIA. bro, you trying to learn how to do tiling? I know someone who needs tilers. PM me if you want a job Your client now is someone from JW a resale unit...hacking completed not long rite, 1st project u done is in clementi? By the way I don't charge for "lives updates" cos I'm not professional in taking photos. good info but the clementi one was a flop, owner decided not to reno. i never said you charge for the pictures woww ... didnt know jaskel and ossify are contractor. Now I wish my ID can do the same for me ... taking photo on my behalf Also gather a lot of info from here. like water proofing for a start. Is it standard to do 3 layer or I have to insist ? some do 2, some do 3. don't know of anyone who do 1. my standard is 3 layer and another layer where the joints are. you insist also no point because you won't be there when they do it. A consultant for house reno...hmm, is something new to me, there is designer, contractor, project coordinator, and now consultant. Boy, what is your charges for a 4 room HDB flat can you advise? $

titanax 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2010 $500!!! i rather seek (FREE)advise from jaskel and (FREE) 3d sketch drawing . It can be very tempting to & natural human tendency to make one's decision because of the freebies, but one should also understand the difference between privilege & entitlements. Jaskel's service of providing 3D & daily updates seem to me as his value to his customers. But when choosing ID / contractor we must also strike a balance in gauging cost, design & chemistry with the contractor. More often times contractors retract their value services or start charging for them coz of some "cheapskates" who abuse this privilege. Lets hope it does not happen to Jaskel

Its a norm for 2 layers. Cos I'm a Singaporean, kiasu, kiasi. Do must do swee swee...cannot think that after 1 yrs the warranty gone for waterproofing (by HDB), if leaks, the owner and below have to pay 50-50 each and its their problem. Do must do swee swee...cannot think that after 1 yrs the warranty gone for waterproofing (by HDB), if leaks, the owner and below have to pay 50-50 each. that is a major headache. have to basically redo reno. rather do it right one time. anyway, the difference is only an hour or so. material cost only few tens of dollars too. jaskel 2 Report post Posted May 23, 2010 And btw, the reno charges will be going up too as the levy by gov for s pass or work permit is increasing. And some had already increased their pricing.

It took 2 to 3 hrs to dry before another layer can be apply...so normally, its took 1 full day to do waterproofing.

Guys be careful of cheap quotation, you might found illegal workers in your house due to high levy.
HDB Officer 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2010 i give free advise and free 3d sketch drawing too. i don't charge for those. You have to see ten clients a month inorder to earn $5000..that's not alot you have to respond to every single call from the owner, and have to coodinate with the contractors...this is not easy man and have to spend time designing, provide 3 D drawing...Wow you are superman!! by all mean... YOU ARE UNDERPAID, with this type of service, you should market yourself- $5000 for one house NOT $500. $5000 allowed you to concentrate in a house is very reasonable for both owner & you.
