I am afraid that there will be small ants or dirt slip through the glass backing in long run. Hi, I am thinking about it too. Where do you intend to get and how much? I heard its easier to clean than tiles but you must clean it well to maintain its shine and it scratches easily. Cheers!
gladyslim 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Stainless steel backing is easy to maintain. Just wipe it after every cook with towel or cloth in warm soapy water with dish detergent or soap powder. No harsh scrubbing like using scotchbrite or the use of grainy detergent like cif, vim etc. It is better to use s/s in hairline finishing than BA which is too gloss or 2B which is too dull. If you are using a plywood top, you can have the backing bend from the table top w/o joint-gap. Edited April 1, 2010 by gladyslim
noobhouse 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 hi when u all mention stainless steel backing are u referring to the piece on the hob or the big piece on the kitchen wall to catch oil splashes so it doesn't dirty the tiles? If it's the 2nd case, how much will it cost & do I get my kitchen cabinet contractor to install it? assuming i dun have ID? thanks.
