A removable cover made for the floor trap. Looks quite cute actually...

Holes in the laminates that needs to be filled up to prevent cockroaches or bugs from creating a nice home for themselves:

Hob area. The exposed wood..think i should apply some varnish to be kiasu. :)

before you guys start to think that they are the "king of carpenters", some parts of the cupboard not very well done though, like this

DSC04975.jpg

Basically some laminates are not glued close enough so there is the ugly line which is obvious at some places but not at others. Could be due to difference in skill level, one worker was more experieced than the other, which is a possible reason...To feedback to uncle and let him know....

Another touch up needed is the tall cabinet door. It cannot be closed properly on the top, hope uncle can made swee swee for us.. :)

Finally everything is done. Protective sticker still intact, intend to keep it there first.

The main use of the full height cabinet. Can fit in my small ladder, the paint is there to mimick pails that we going to get in future. :)

Can't wait for you to peel off the protective sticker for your stainless steel countertop and take a picture of it in all it's naked glory!

hey guys, look! i just DIY-ed my pallet shoe rack...haha...by putting my shoes on it. :P

DSC04967.jpg

ok this is a little too tall, i gotta remeasure the height to fit it below the window... :)

I like this also, there are many variation on instructables.com. But you need to note that the shoes might be wrinkled if you place them in that position too long.

ya technically, we can still change to s/steel but won't be doing so cos of cost..plus i've been convinced by my hb that s/steel will have scratches and not look so nice after a while.

22nd May is coming soon! this saturday.. so just sit tight!

yeah scratches will appear, but baby says these scratches will make the stainless steel look aged and she likes it...haha

how much were you quoted? Contractors generally quote like $162 per foot run with a built in sink and back splash.. solid surface is $100-$140 already... say $50 more per foot run, for a 8 ft kitchen (3room flat mah) = $400.

save a bit here and there, still can make it within budget. :)

oh have been waiting for the air con people to come to mess up my house with the ugly trunking! :P

erm, but my total kitchen cabinet is 16 ft... :P

the thing is, we cham siong with our PM to 'pao' our kitchen cabinet into one price and can see she tried her best to squeeze for us so if now i go back to her and tell her i want s/steel, i'm pretty sure the top-up will be hefty! she previously quoted me $2k for 10ft top + 10ft backsplash.

16ft? omg...tats alot...gallery style like ossify? :)

quote i got for s/s top with sink for 8ft is $1.3k leh...would be cheaper without sink...can squeese your id! haha..

you could also do without backsplash it you are not cooking on that side of the kitchen, save costs...

can try if you really like the look...countertop is one of the stuff which is harder to replace, compared to washer, fridge, furniture...so we decided to go for it and buy cheaper furnishing...like the free shoe rack! haha!

nope, not galley style. we're doing L-shaped with a side pantry on the opposite wall. we already complaining not enough storage space..if we have just 8 ft, i think erm...

we're not tiling our kitchen so we'll need the backsplash as we intend to cook very often. right now, we're happy with our solid surface la, though my original idea was to go for a s/steel top. its reflective so its ideal for a small kitchen. look forward to seeing the big reveal..you should video it like what Moh Guan did..haha..then we all can see/hear your reaction when you see the s/steel for the first time.. :P
