KDK Ventiliation fan - 20AUH @$48 from Kong Tai. There is a round one 8inch, which Kong Tai is selling @$68. But i chose the cheaper one. ok, let me try to put a few pics, might be better. The sequence of arrangement = small light -- ceiling fan -- longer light pic of living room with 2 lights and ceiling fan. One light (short one) on the ceiling, near with the beam next to the main door: The other light (longer light) is in between living room and kitchen. gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 We did not have much choice... - we didnt want to do false ceiling or the light box that uses spot light -->will make our flat look very low. Its only 2.37m in height. - we wanted a ceiling fan --> die die want it! - no suitable ceiling fan with lights bright enough --> Liked alpha v6, but decided to forgo it, since its not bright enough - no spot lights --> inefficient, expensive to maintain and hot. LEDs are expensive. So final choice is flourescent light tubes. We were very tempted to use those tubes with a plastic casing, like those u see @ construction sites, which will look sooo industrial! But decided not to go to the extreme, if not everyone would really think that they are visiting a factory instead... Long story uh, i also joked to baby that we visit so many lighting shops, in the end buy lights from a shop specialising in selling plastics (dama)... gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 The comparison between 2 ceiling fans: KDK baby fan (44 inch) --> used in the bedroom (With remote) Franco fan - acrylic blade (48 inch) --> used in the living room (no remote, fan regulator) Verdict: KDK fan is much more powerful though its smaller size. It has 3 speeds, but when u switch it to the max speed, its very noisy, not suitable for sleeping. But at speed 2 its quite cooling already. Good buy! Should have gotten the silver one instead as their white abit yellowish and not as white as i thought. Franco fan looks great, glad we got the black one. Itsis not noisy. but probably because the fan lacks power. Thankfully my house is quite windy, so still not so bad. Given a choice again, will probably get a KDK instead. HDB Officer 1 Report post Posted May 8, 2010 Electrical works are finally completed. New DB box. Electrician has labelled for me the switches inside, easy to troubleshoot if the switches "jump". Will know at a glance which section of the house is problematic, i.e. kitchen, aircon, living room, bedroom,etc. our fan and flourescent tubes combination, not too much shadows. But i was too kiasu, now the house is a little too bright. quite neatly patched up, pretty satisfied. the illegal stuff we did... Where is this unit ah? Stainless Steel top has arrived! we were siting at the void deck waiting for the carpenters and our eyes lit up immediately once we spotted them carrying the long awaited countertop! We practically stood there half a day to watch them work, trying to steal some knowledge of how to paste formica and how they adjusted the cabinets to suit the uneven wall and kitchen base. they were unable to finish up the work and have to come back on monday to do the finishing touches. Very good carpenters, they took note of details to ensure cabinet is level, testing out the handles and drawer runners, etc... Pictures to follow shortly as they are all in baby's camera. No 3D for us..only had our imagination...but we played it safe, using grey cabinet with stainless steel... cannot don't match right? Mickey, i doubt they will clean it la. He outsourced the making of the stainless steel top. So i don't think he will do it. But carpenter is a nice guy with helpers who take pride in their work. So give and take a bit, don't clean also ok...just make sure cabinets and runners are all working can already, thats more important. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 Very neat carpenters, i am amazed. All screws are sorted nicely: we managed to steal a shot of them at work! The guy on the floor is working hard to trim the full height cabinet to suit the uneven walls. They took it up and down so many times that i lost count.. The standing guy is the more experienced one, adjusting the drawers and making sure every thing is level. Borrowed the carpenter's measuring tape. Found out that it is actually a "feng shui" ruler! so interesting, then we went around measuring things for fun...haha! My first try at using putty to fill up a hole, looks hideous!
