lilithfiend 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 yeap, i was that excited...hahaa. i was told my kitchen is ultra slanted, carpenter spent a long time making the cabinets level. they have installed the cabinets and measured the size of the countertop. They will be doing it, i think by end of the week would be done. can't wait for it to be up! Therefore, Electrical works and cabinets should be completed by Sunday (hopefully). Slowly the house is taking shape... ultra slanted? didn't they build a base for the cabinets? i thought the base should have given the cabinets a level ground..at least thats what alot of contractors tell me..is your carpentry done by designer house too? or did you outsource it? The carpenter was introduced by a friend. Not done by designer house. (cheaper mah...opps... )
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Some clearer shots by baby: No blocking of Natural lights! the intimidating cabinet doors... another view: contractor's brand of soft close, no drawer to try yet:
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Another view from living room: our shelving for housing the microwave, rice cooker, etc: the sink: i think they must be cursing us due to the work needed to cut this: Just found out today that the stainless steel countertop can only be done next week. lilithfiend 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2010 its coming along well...! is your cabinet white? or grey..?
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 the interior is white, the exterior is silver. A bit too light for my liking, the sample shown to me was much darker. But should still match the stainless steel top and grey floor... electrical works should be done this week. Satified with the work to date, except that the place is in a total mess now. the living room ceiling fan is up. So happy, we both like it so much.... Good progress I dont think so, they have the machine saw, and it should took less than a minute cut this Stainless steel countertop? Wow, will be nice and easy to maintain. Is it easy for the wallet? (compare to solid top) hmm perhaps they are used to it already...many people box up pipes these days... stainless steel is like a dream come through for my wife. I am willing to sacrifice other things to pay for stainless steel, thankfully i didnt faint when i hear the price. Probably becos other contractors had set a higher expectation when they quoted me higher! I outsourced direct to carpenter. And in fact for a "Gloria" brand solid surface, he quoted me higher than stainless steel. Not sure why too?

gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2010 Just got back from the house not long ago. Lightings and fans are all up. Left some touching up and area cleaning by electrician. Now i no longer need to bring torch light when visiting the house! A picture of our DIY bird cage, exactly the feel we want! Tommorrow will probably be the handover for the electrical works. Finally another job done! Yay!
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 Electrical works are finally completed. New DB box. Electrician has labelled for me the switches inside, easy to troubleshoot if the switches "jump". Will know at a glance which section of the house is problematic, i.e. kitchen, aircon, living room, bedroom, etc. our fan and flourescent tubes combination, not too much shadows. But i was too kiasu, now the house is a little too bright. quite neatly patched up, pretty satisfied. the illegal stuff we did...
gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 ultra rough wall in bedroom under the light. hope that after we put a tv there, not so obvious...? our WIW lights. the normal white switch for common bedroom. i find it very cute...haha...
