Orh. But should be buying lights soon bah. :)

I think the Philips lights look better and better. If u are energy saving type, can consider their LED lights.

Hmmm i'm assuming LED lights are more ex but cheaper on the electricity? What are the better LEDs to look out for? Why Phillips?

Yes. LED lights consume lesser energy but the 'scallop' effect cannot really be replicated 100%. I don't know what are the better brands of LED but I think Philips Home Lighting Concept Store is a gd store to check out LED lights - Philips brand. The lights are subtle looking lights but modern looking. I think dim white lights are quite suitable for black theme. :). But I think Loyd won't think so. :P. Ha.

hmm, i went to the Philips lighting shop at Bukit Timah Rd over the weekend. just to share, their downlights (Ledino) are priced around $200+ each, but they say LED saves energy and can last for a much longer time. It looked really good, but I wasn't willing to invest thousands of dollars when i needed 14 downlights.

I did purchase one of their hanging lights which was priced abt $400. It's their EcoMoods suspension light. Looks like a UFO with a light rim around the edge. :)

Oh, that light is quite nice, especially if u have a dark wall and black table to match it I think.

Wow I didn't know that LED downlights are so expensive... I like the energy saving function though.. wonder how many years will it take to break even the extra cost compared to normal lights.

LED lights can last up to 50000hrs if u believe them. Energy consumption is less than 10% of a halogen light.

Progress is real slow  ... There is nothing much to update since our last post.

Just finished installing our air-conditioning and a portion of our ceiling works...

Still waiting to start painting and laying our laminates for the rooms.

Date of handover is pushed to 2 mths later....

How is everything, Rasfene? :)

Been MIA for a long time... Been really busy with work and the reno is going rather slowly atm... False ceiling are done and I'm quite pleased with the results. Special platform made for the dining area was fixed up but it turned out to be too big.. Look rather nice though and it complements the false ceiling design... Anyway will try to put up photos when I get the time!

Been getting several inquries about Loyd, our designer. Have only one thing to say. If you are not very tight with budget, have patience AND the time, and really particular about design, he's the one! Was totally blown away by his design of his workplace/living space's extension design. Was already very impressed by the previous design but he has really outdone himself in the extension. I was totally blown away by every single area in that office cum living space. Make it a point to go down his place for meet up if you are thinking of engaging him. :)

Yup. And I'm crossing fingers too. Ain't entirlely the ID's fault. First thing that happened was that HDB took a freaking long time to get back to us on the approval of window works for the bathrooms. As a result, the final tiling works cannot be done till the windows are done. (Starting this week!)

Our Id uses a few teams of carpenters for his projects and he told us frankly the team with the best work can only start fabrications in june, so do we want to wait. Thinking we waited for so long already might as well just go for quality. And the ID went off to serve the country for 1 week. Everything add up and here we are. :bangwall:

neighborhood no complain?

Luckily all the hacking works, noisy stuff are gone so there isn't a lot of commotion. anyway the house was empty half the time these 3 weeks. :(
