The price tag is $2.4k but after must haggling with lena (a most helpful lady over at OM), we got a discount round 20% for everything we bought. I said 'round' cos GST can't be waived, but she managed to sweeten the deal by giving 2 pillows[as above] FOC. (Each cost $60 on her price list!)

Overall I think we got a good deal with OM. Quality we saw at the showroom is great. Loyd told us that the finishing of the tv console would be nicer than than the laminated one if we get him and his carpenters to do a construction. If the tv console is of simple design and not something that need to be specially constructed, he recommended to get from OM as the price is on par with his quotation but quality is better!

Pricing wise, I think we got value for money since the things are really solid and other people on the forum have good feedback after purchasing from them. And more importantly, really few reliable shops sell furniture with the designs we like.

BUT, I think it is possible to get cheaper stuff from places like Hommage and S&C, with all the good reviews people have and prices are really lower by a fair bit. The thing is we aren't the type to shop by catalogues. Its hard to see the finer details of the pieces on a 2D picture. And we can't feel the quality and feel shiok from touching our future furniture.. haha

A bit naggy, hope it helps! :good:

Hi Rasfene,

U are going for a modern comteporary theme? :)

Yes. Ready-made furnitures like tv console is better in terms of finishing because they are usually powder-coated or finishes with high gloss lacquered paints (better ones). Laminates give poorer finishing at the joint especially. :)

So its better to buy off the shelves tv console? If i want to mount tv on the wall, do i have to do a false wall? Cos i hope to do just a shelving below the wall-mounted tv to put scv etc.

My opinion is yes. U don't need a false wall to mount tv to the wall. Basically, the function of the false wall is to hide the wiring behind the wall. For asethetic purpose. :)

Ya modern cntemporary. We selected black tiles for the living hall coz we wanted something different, crossing my fingers for the final effect! We dun like to have a black and white house... even though the furniture so far are mostly black and white haha... Just bought a dining table with 4 chairs... also black! zz Loyd has confidence in using different paints to achieve the effect we want so he think the furnishing are fine.

Mickey, you bought your furniture yet? EVOV is having promotion for some of their items now. Dining table (glass top, stainless steel legs) with 4 chairs (leather top stainless steel legs) at 1.6k+.

If your living hall already have some design elements in it, advisable not to do a feature wall as it will pull attention away from them. Feature walls are nice if they are the main showpiece.

We decided not to have a feature/false wall as we have the platform and rather strong furnishing. BUT I will have to find some way to hide all the wires in the future :(

Black tiles are nice. We wanted to use that for our round living hall but Loyd said it makes the mini living area looks cheap. So didn't use eventually. And quartz are just too exp. The glittering effects of quartz tles compliment the crystal lights though.

Loyd is a paint guy, not a wallpaper guy (FYI, he don't like wallpaper or decals). So I believe he knows what he is doing. Hope to see your final product soon. :D

I haven't really bought much stuffs yet. Hmm, TV bought, sofa customised, dining chairs bought, coffee table bought, mattress bought... and that all! I am waiting for my dining chairs to be delivered first before shopping/customising the sofa for the mini living room. Doing it slowly cos we are picky. Hee.

Post ur dining table. :D

May I know how much does your TV console cost? It is very nice.

Priced @ $1.4k plus a 20% discount before gst.. so you do the math ha... :) It's similar to pricing of customized carpentry for the console but the quality is better. There are ton of sales going on in today's papers. XZQT, Om are all having sale. Good to shop ard during these few days. I may have bought my stuff too early... maybe can get an even better discount!

Hope that all of you had a great long weekend. Me and wifey bought more things over the last week, but FORGOT to take pictures. getting old and forgetful

However... :D we have some tiling works to show.

Here's whats being done in our kitchens. We chose a creamy, honey tone to offset our dark living room. The tiles have a slight retro feel to it. Not complete yet, but its still nice to see some progress.

Next up, our common toilet. Again, similar colour scheme as the kitchen. However, the tiles are much simpler and cleaner.

Am really looking forward to this.... our mbr toilet.

As you can see, the main feature wall is up. We chose a dark theme for it, and loyd suggested using silvery tiles placed randomly to spice up the area.

Our parents had a hard time trying to digest the idea. Haha....

The workers were cleaning the tiles, hence the soapy look.

IMAG0419.jpg

And some hiccups along the way. Today, when I went to check on the progress, I discovered that the workers had started to construct a storeroom right in my kitchen and that it was already halfway done! Our design did not include a storeroom at all.... hee, major miscommunication.

In the end, they had to tear it down.

IMAG0431.jpg

wrong design to our step-down to the kitchen too...

IMAG0432.jpg

wow, cant wait for the reno to be over although we just started!
