This is the fridge that I'm buying, eyeing for a F&P fridge but over budget. Never mind, cos this model has freezer below as well. :)

Hope you don't regret your decision in getting a small fridge NOW, as IF and when you wanna change to a bigger one..... the space you provide NOW is the constraint

Nothing against husbands making decisions in/for the kitchen.... just ensure he knows what he is doing :) Jokes aside

I seen big fridges of families who doesn't cook and packed with junks too. It is good to have a bigger fridge, but budget and lifestyle also play a part in the size of the fridge.

Having a slimer but taller fridge, I have to arrange my food stuff wisely. Most of our things are in containers or allocated slots. We will always try to finish the food before replenishing new stock. We doi marketing once aweek for my inlaws and ourselves so we have to make sure we have enough room for 6 person worth of raw food.

Just make sure that you have extra space catered for your fridge expansion, just incase you want a bigger one next time.

I used to have a big fridge alomost 500L and the rationale behind was also similar to ur hubby, that we can store more stuff. In the end, the fridge is so under use, so wasted to on the electricity to service the big empty fridge.

So this time round, I am buying a smaller fridge, approx 360 plus L. it will serve nicely for a small family like ours with room to store. I did also ask edmund to do allowance on top of the measurement of the fridge for future upgrades though not likely as my MIL is staying nearby and cooking will mostly be done by her as we are working. I shall be cooking more during weekends.

@gals_mama... from your post, seems like you are providing space for the small and tall fridge that you have selected. Are you catering extra space, just in case you wanna change to a bigger one in future, as what @Zelly noted above?

To share my fridge hunting experience, I was bound by space constraint as my condo came with built-in kitchen cabinet (refer pix below) and all I had to work with these dimensions = 84cm x 73cm x 185cm (WxDxH)

I have to provide adequate space on the left side of the fridge so that the smaller door could open adequately for the ice-making container to be removed (from the brochure - full opening requires 21cm space, but in the end, from motion study at Best Denki, Plaza Singapura, 9cm suffice. We require the right door to be FULLY opened for easy access to the right side of the fridge (most of our frequently used items are stored on this side. Luckily, the microwave oven did not obstruct the door... phew!

The original fridge that we wanted to get is way bigger than this on... around 1.5x the width, height about the same. In the end, we settled for the middle one in the brochure (Panasonic NR-F532TX - only one colour) - all the requirements are there (ie freezer at the bottom, vege compartment in the middle, ice making tray (my son's favourite part of the fridge) and the dimensions are right (except for the price :( ) We cook and freeze our food a lot, and with 2 boys.... it's a challenge - have to restock more frequently. I will do up my reno-blog soon (post reno blog to be more accurate) and explain more on our journey.

is that the panasonic? If yes, I got that and am very happy with it!

best way to deal with that is to cater a bigger space for future upsizing? no point buying a super big fridge now if there is no need for it...

The 1 given by the catalog not accurate?

the one in the cataloq shown as 864mm.. but may mentioned she did 900mm.. just now when i went to take a look.. they managed to fit the fridge in but no space in between.. only the back of the fridge got huge space for ventilation.

Thanks everyone for ur advice. My id also very shocked that i'm buying such a small fridge. :D

I seldom cook, maybe once a week? Cos we will have dinner at my inlaw's place then back home. During weekends, we normally eat out cos my gal has classes. So the fridge that i have not is to put milk, choc, fruits and medicine. If i do cook on weekend, we normally buy then go back and cook straight away. Actually the fridge that i'm buying is already bigger than the present one. :P

Mayb i will talk to my id again to have some allowance, just in case.

Yes panasonic, but a small small one, 550 x 600 x 1590 (mm). :P I like it cos the freezer is below. I dun have to bend down to get my fruits, drinks or veg.

Ah... AFC, maybe just buy and cook straight away? I like to bake, so i hope to have a pantry room like those chef, to stock all the dried stuff. But... no hope. :D so i hope to have a long drawer cabinet, pull out can see all dried foodstuff.
