gadgetman 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) photos - fireworks from singapore flyer from my flat tonite.. enjoyWe were about to leave my house to pick up my son when we heard the distinct boom of the fireworks! My wife shouted excitedly "Got fireworks, come quick!!" I rushed to the living room and was greeted with the most beautiful fireworks display that I have ever seen in a long, long while! It was so much better than the CNY and New Year day's fireworks!! Big, colourful and IN-YOUR-FACE! That's how all fireworks displays should be like. Anyway, after recovering slightly from the awesome sight, I remembered that my boy likes fireworks too! "Must videotape for him to see!" I thought cleverly and proudly to myself...I quickly rushed to get my video camera out, took-out the lens cap, flipped opened the LCD, turn-on the power, aim at the fireworks and....THEN ITS WAS ALL OVER Why can't they have a longer show????????? gadgetman 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 hi mr gadgetman, may i ask do you experience the afternoon sun in your living room during day time? Not at all. Our windows are all southward facing. In the morning, the sun will cut just in a bit into our right walls for all rooms. Same thing for the left walls in the afternoon, but only very slightly in both cases. bonkitty 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 Wow nice fireworks....gadgetman, many thks for your compliments! Hope my hse turn out nice... Also I also want to c ur hse Hi neighbours,Just wondering if anyone is using Teka Hoods in their kitchen?? I got mine fixed up but with some minor defect, the Teka people will come by to rectify the fault. But the Teka guy saw my photo and said that my ventilation space area is not sufficient/correct, the vented air may not escape properly thus it may cause the motor to overheat in the long run. There needs to be some form of outlet to let the air escape outwards.I've checked with my contractor but he says it's ok to do it this way as many other hoods are installed this way as well. Teka actually recommended doing a vertical, boxed up chimney within the cabinet to vent the air. Not sure who is correct now??? I remembered seeing Rinnai hoods installed in the same manner as what I did, no chimney, just a 'space' above to vent the air output only. Am I right or is the Teka guy correct??Any neighbours can advise? Thanks! meepokFor teka hood, u need to do a "chimmey" cos the air vent is on the top of the hood so the hot air will not escape fast enough.. tat's e reason why I din buy the Teka HoodRinnai can be installed without "chimmey" cos the air vent is at the top left corner which is not blocked by any cupboard so is will not damage any cabinet in the long run..Not sure if u understand if not I can pop by and explain to u...or wait till my hood is up so I can show u

I've spoken with the Teka technician who came by yesterday to fix the defect. It seems that my hood placement is still acceptable for the air to vent out from the opening on both sides of the cabinet. No need for the chimney thing. Just make sure to seal up the back of the hood so as to prevent any stray air from dousing the flame on the hob below.Didn't know about the different venting functions from the various brands when I got the hood initially. So now the air will vent out near our head level when we're cooking! No choice... better than to have to install the air-vent grill outlet on top of the cabinet.... abit ugly loh. Thanks for your help!meepok
