rachel79 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 (edited) Hi Rachel79I saw a yellow sticker sticked on the wall near the kitchen switches... say something like contact citygas for bla bla bla bla.... Are there any dates indicated on it??I hope I am wrong too but I can't find the promotion banner on their website since last week. And as Blk 79A was last to collect the keys and I afraid we had missed the FREE Water Heater.I am having the same planning as you with the Instant Heater in MBR toliet and the FREE gas heater in the common toliet except I don't find it is necessary to spend extra$$ on the box up of the gas pipe. alister 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Gas hobs are approx $500 - $800 so of coz Induction is more expensive. The quotes I got are almost 2 years old - but I remembered they were in the $1.5K to $2K+ range. The issue of power consumption wasnt high on my list but utensils were. But the point that swayed me towards gas hobs was that I don't know anybody who has one and is able to share his/her experience with me. yup, I am hardly the adventurous sort. BTW, anyone bought a 2-in-1 washer-dryer? Am wondering if clothes can be 100% dry.Hi MapleleafI have not use induction, but would like to share my thots.Induction:-Seems safe for children but told by salesperson still will be hot after cooking. Gives false sense of safety.More expensive than gas stove.Need to buy special pots & pans. Cannot use corningware which is very useful for cooking or make warm. Some food need strong fire to cook to make it taste nicer, dun think induction can do that. Most likely always constant heat.So with above reasons, I went for gas stove. As for 2-in-1 washer-dryer, I would not recommend. I read up alot at Singaporebrides on this issue. Disadvantages : -If one function spoilt, need to service the whole machine.Dryer function is always half weight of actual. Eg if wash 8kg clothes, must take out 4kg. So need to dry twice if need to dry whole 8kg. I am using separate machines now.Hi Neighbours...Been awhile since i read the thread...hmm guess many have moved in or renovating at the moment..well our reno just started ...cant wait to get over and done with the reno...so tiring..anyway again and again i have lots of queries...hope im not gettin anyone annoyed...pls advise ... Anyone installed black solid surface for kitchen?? Any probs of discolorration? anyone knows if brand matters for choosing solid surface top? kinda confused ... tot of choosing granite top but dun know if its worth it..quoted at $115/(psf or pfr) not sure which is riteI think black solid surface will have alot of scratches. There will be white markings if an item is place at one position for too long. Eg placing rice cooker, the legs will leave markings.I am using black galaxy granite. Love it. Paid $100 psfanother thing is i realized that we could install kitchen taps on the counter top or purchase sinks that the tap is mounted on it...i bought a sink that requires mounting of the tap on counter top and also thinking of purchasing the buit in soap dispenser which is also to be mounted on the counter top...any pros and cons to mounting to the counter tops?Read somewhere abt this but can't remember. Think built-in soap dispenser not recommended due to dirty & difficult to refill soap. Became white elephant.haiz...another thing is probs with the master bedroom toilet the door opening allowance seems to be soooo cramped....anyone could share their pics on the design of the master bedroom toilet...kinda curious how others design the master bedroom toilet im out of ideas...aside fm the design the designer gave...i would rather see the actual final product,...dun trust drawings that much...I use PD doors instead of bifold doors or wooden doors. No real complains. Feel free to drop by to see actual space constraint

What brand of solid top ? Are u able to choose colors from the whole catalog ? TV console, does it include mirrors ? Kitchen cabinet includes anti-slam ? jaCKY777 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Thanks, alister. I c\will ask them in detail when I meet them face to face.Hey euph0bear,alister is rite.Personally, i find e quotation kinda cheap. Even Contractor olso canot fight. FYI :How 2 calculate floor tiling price ->eg. master bedroom- super shine homogeneous tile @ $3.50 per sq feet - cement & sand & labour to lay @ $3.00Total flooring price for master bedroom= [(internal floor area of master bedroom + skirting)sqft + 10% wastage] x ($3.50 + $3.00)How 2 calculate carpentry ->eg. kitchen cabinet- 10ft top kit cabinet @ $120 per foot run- 10ft bottom cabinet @ $120 per foot run- 10ft solid surface worktop @ $90 per foot runTotal price for kit cabinet = [(10 + 10)ft x $120] + (10ft x $90) = $3300Note : e per foot run pricing varies frm IDs to IDs, Contractors to Contractors. But e method of computing shd b jus like e above s e minimum. Some ID/contractor may include e solid surface worktop $$$ into e carpentry, then states e solid surface is FREE. Talking about power consumption of electrical appliances....I just got the shock of my life yesterday when I got my Feb utilities bill! The bill was only a mere $17 in Jan, but it BALLOONED to $300 in Feb!Don't know the exact cause of it now although electricity is the main contibutor at about $200 of the bill. Not sure, if it is due to under-reading of the meter in Jan and Feb is an accumulative sum or whatever. But my suspicion naturally draw to the two main culprits: The Dryer and the Water Heater! Aircon is innocent cause we hardly need to on it for the whole month. Will continue to monitor but people who wants to get heavy duty appliances powered by electricity: BEWARE! If yes, then shld average out the bill. But $150 per mth is also quite a lot. My old hse only $60plus. I think I will also get a BIG bomb in the next bill as well.My consumption pattern same as urs. I have dryer and water heater too. I suspect it's the dryer.
