The more I look at your layout, the more I like it. Your unit has at least 150sqm??

4 rm,3 toilet, big kitchen, somemore got maid room!

Your reno will cost a bomb loh! :D

I think the way u arrange it is very good already. But I do not like WIW, as it will be quite stuffy, and if near toilet, i think moisture very high, things will get mouldy fast.

Its about 139 sqm. There is no planter, no balcony area so got more space...:)

Yes, I like it too as it has a bomb shelter and utility which I can use it for store room and maid room which has a window too....:)

Oops...yes..mouldy WIW......its going to be a L-shape wardrobe with doors.....!!,,

Lol..lets see how this design transform into after talks with the IDs...:)

Met up with Nicholas this morning......a nice meeting too....and my wife warm up to him pretty quick.....which is quite rare....:)

As expected, when I mention casually what I intended to do my kids bedroom, both IDs politely skip it...:)......

I intend to see what both of them come up with and if I do not think it is better than what I had in mind, I will discuss it again...lol

went window shopping over the weekend. The last time, we did the reno first then go buy sofa etc...and end up must buy a sofa that fit the reno....:)

so now, thinking if we can find a sofa, HTS, then we can have the reno to fit the sofa/HTS....lol

Alas, cannot find a sofa we like enuff to put a order now but audition and found a suitable speaker set that we like.

for the Bedroom

Was thinking of tiling the bedrooms instead of using laminates or parquet. After staying many years on laminate and parquet floors, I find it quite a handful to maintain...The IDs are not too excited about this and offer to quote for both tiles an parquet....

I went with tiling of bedrooms as well. Didnt stayed in laminates before, but would still prefer tiling, as I think it would feel cooler and easier for maintenance? Laminate however will give u a more cosy feeling. Nowadays, standard package usually comes with bedroom laminates. I ask my ID, with overlaying laminates, it only save me like 600-700.

thanks......lol..my "first" experience with laminates was when i did my house 3 years ago. Did it bcos they said durable, easy to maintain etc....:)....Within the 3 years, planks got loosen, gaps happens, can push the planks etc.....and my mum bedroom original parquet is still doing very well!!....

I think I will go for tiling........:)...

Hi wcseow,

I would prefer tiles over laminates/parquet anytime.

Just to share, my neighbour at my parents' place also went for laminates/parquet (cant remember, but are those wood planks kind) previously. When I went over to 'play' at her house last time, her bedroom's flooring was like 'full of holes' at those joints/between the 'plank'. I saw ants and those small cockroaches crawling into those holes. Very scary. And there's no way to clean the area under the laminates/parquet or 'catch' those insects crawling beneath it. I cant imagine sleeping above 'them' daily. :(

I think cleaning and maintenance wise, tiles are easier. My mum like to use hot water to mop her tiled floor bi-weekly. Don't think can do that on laminate/parquet as they usually need to use some specific cleaner for cleaning. And I think tiles are more scratches resistant than laminate/parquet. For Hb & I, we never consider parquet/laminates before so didnt really do much research on it. Maybe those with laminate/parquet can provide a totally different view. :)

Continuing...my preferred design should be

1. simple, clean and spacious. With lots of storage areas (meet my wife request)

2. Lol..I am particular about my toilet(MBR), spacious and neat....

3. Easy to maintain and clean...thus no or minimal grooves, raised platform so that we can clean the floor....

4. Ceiling fans is a must.....:)...I hate standing fans, takes up space....lol

5. Kitchen, large top as we do our cooking mostly from individual induction cookers....use electricity less gas...= less fried= less oily...lol

6. Kitchen, to accommodate one fridge and one freezer (my mum loved to stock up food....)...lol

7. Lasting.........and.....hopefully it get feature in the ID website/magazine as my last reno...lol

:)

wow, your reno concept looks so much like mine :D have you seen my t-blog? :D

I always had tiles. They are easy to maintain and clean. In my new place, I plan to try parquet because I find that tiles tend to have a very cold feeling and maybe not as classy and cosy as parquet.

Sigh....There is a strong possibility that the wall in the kids bedroom could not be hacked....So came out with an alternative without breaking that wall.....apparently that wall is pre-fab etc....something....

The good news is I get back my family area space (most of it at least) so that i can now put my ION drum-set.............lol...

So here it is.....comments pls...

In the MBR, I decided to try to do it this way to get more open space, and that thing in the middle, was thinking of a island chest or something...:)

Now my kids will have their very own Wardrobe room!!....:)
