I only know the Ez Lift one ... let me google the Home Niche one. Which one is cheaper ah?

seems like home niche is cheaper by a bit... home niche is $379 or $399 and ezi lift is $400 plus IIRC... the earlier pages of by T-blog has the contacts of home niche.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

hmm...if its a up down system, might as well use the bamboo stick with hangers on the ceiling. i don't see the diff leh...

the push out system makes more sense, actually. If one is not strong enough to hold the bamboo stick that is...

but hey, this is the time for guys to come out and "be the man". :)

Yes Zelly. Thank you for reminding us about the cabinet load... If we mount the cabinets to the feature wall, it might not be as strong as mounting onto the wall (afterall, feature walls are just made of thin partition board)... I have to ask my contractors what is the weight limit for the feature wall...

But then, I cant think of anything heavier than books that we might be putting in those cabinets. They are not that big to put big heavy stuff too... So, most probably the cabinets will be just for putting CDs, DVDs, photo abums, Wii Games, books, boardgames, etc... I guess it should be able to hold the weight of these light stuff... Will confirm with the ID...

Hi hongwen37,

I've gaven some comments back to him regarding the unfriendly contract but he had yet get back to me... sure see how it goes...

Hi Connytan83,

What exactly are the contract terms that you dont like? Actually, I feel that although the terms of the contracts may sound "unfriendly", companies have to state down clearly the terms to protect themselves too... I believe if the terms you brought up are not unreasonable, the contractors will be willing to modify the terms a bit to accomodate your request...

I think the only contract issue i dont like with Plush Living is that their final payment is only 5% and also, that the warranty period is only one year. But Darren did mention that even if there are any problems after one year, we can still look for him if the problems is not due to our own fault or wear and tear...

I believe mutual trust is much more important than words stated in the contract... Like the contract states that i have to make 35% payment before carpentry work is being carried out.. But till now, my carpentry is almost completed and i have yet to make that payment (I believe for contractors who go by the book, they will wait for the payment before carrying out any carpentry work, because now he is paying out from his own pocket to the carpenters first)...

Also, any changes or additions i made that will affect the quote, he will minus off or add on to the price accordingly. He did not try to find excuses not to refund the items that i took out from the initial contract...

But, i think if you have any concerns, better to state down black and white too (Me and wife are those who dont care so much about these legal stuff)... Since you guys are already at the contractual phase, I guess most IDs will not let this "fish" swim away just because of some minor contractual issues...

hubby wanted to do the up down system for me so that it is easier to lift the washing up and down esp. when preggie. actually I'm not so worried abt the going out cos ours is the new type which has support for the bamboo for both sides so we dun have to use extra strength to lift and put the bamboo into the holders. He wanted the push out system but from the look of my place, likely not that we have space to do the push out ones.

hubby helps out when he can but there are times when he is not around so he wants life to be easier for me. :)

Hi Conny,

Actually, I haven't decide to sign on any ID yet but I am leaning forward to Plush Living as well. Just my wife issue right now. lol...Anyway, I'm not sure if you happened to read others ID contract terms, but I can tell you mostly are alike. And yes, it's not favor to us (the client). Well, to be honest, this contract to me is really meaningless. Like what HongWen mentioned, is all about trust. I mean if something goes wrong and it is against the contract, will you spend another 10k to file in a court letter to sue them? lol...It might be a small issue and if it is referring to quality issue, is even worse as different people having different perspective of quality.

Lastly, you can always add in additional clauses inside the contract terms if you feel uneasy. As long as they agree on it and both party sign on it, that should be alright. What I am trying to say here is all the IDs are having a very similar contract terms. The contract that they draft out is to cover their back if things go ugly. I trust Plush Living can do a good job as:

1) Darren is the boss

2) Understood that he took over Plush Living since 2009 or 2008 only. Since this is so called the starting stage for him, I believe that he won't do any big mistake to ruin down his reputation in RT. Do take note that it's RT to help him doing the "free marketing" on his good service, good design. Anything goes wrong, it will be RT to pull him down as well. You can see other old threads in RT which had been promoting some other ID firms earlier stage but due to the heavy workload, they start making mistakes and 1 fail renovation progress will stop a lot people to approach them anymore.

3) He seems fierce. Hehehe.....and talk louder! lol....To me, an ID who can't control his/her contractors/workers is a MEGA FAIL! Since he can talk loud and fierce and fury, I think he can manage any bad situation very very well. hahahaha...

Just sharing some of my opinions on Plush Living. Trying my best to convince my wife now....lol....Do update us your reno progress as well. Good luck!

Your 3D is out? You are so lucky.. My 3D was only out few weeks ago... He did all of the things in the house that doesnt require 3D first.. So, the 3D was only out quite sometime later...

Yah... I guess most important is that you must feel comfortable with the ID... haa.. He is gentle and polite to client.. wait till you see him treat his sub con... But he is not fierce to them.. just firm with them....

But, i must say also every ID has their bad points too including Darren.. I guess he is too busy and a bit forgetful.. So sometimes, you have to remind him about certain things...

Have fun renovating!
