yoongf 11 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 The hot/cold piping is joined for leak detection during pressure testing. The U shaped pipe is not meant for buyer to use. When installing the storage heater, the plumber will saw off the U, and 1 side connect to heater inlet, and 1 side connect to heater outlet. If u dun want to install storage heater, then the U is to be left there so the cold water will run direct to the hot side of the tap.
