Tan 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2016 Hi bunnybluey, For SP (PUB) inspection is FOC, you only need to pay your contractor for the LEW to attend to it. A electrician with a licence will not tell you to skip inspection. The guidelines is to make sure the installation safe, Just 1 question, how to justify that your contractor is doing a good job if the installation cant even pass the inspection? BTW under the ACT inspection is a must.

BTW under the ACT inspection is a must. I know the inspection is FOC. Ideally, we should all do the testing but from what I understand that there are certain requirements, for example, if you have electrical wiring/points installed in carpentry, that would not pass the inspection. If is indeed a must, I do wonder why IDs/contractors didn't recommend testing/inspection to be done as an item in the quote when customers asked for electrical works to be done as well. Note that the guidelines not only applied to rewiring, it's for any electrical renovation work, so it's applicable even just to add 1 point or relocate a point. Also, if we were to follow the guidelines by HDB, by right, no electrician, not even licensed electrician unless the person is also a licensed SCV installer should meddle with the TV(SCV) point as any alteration and extension of the original television points are to be carried out by a licensed StarHub Cable Vision (SCV) installer, which leads me to ask why are electricians/IDs quoting SCV points installation? Our govt is usually quite ks, so if it's indeed a die die must do, they would have implemented through some kind of permit so that they can enforce & ensure that inspection is indeed carried out. Tan 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) It is not true that no electrical wiring is to be install in carpentry, is the contractor who install the wiring never cover up with trunking and just leave bare wire behind or in the cabinet that cannot pass the inspection. ID and contractor will not recommend testing is because there will be no shortcut or under size cable can be use for them to make more money. SCV wont cause life and dead so can close one eye. The ACT is there and is your house you take your own risk. Good luck. Edited June 14, 2016 by Tan Wrong spelling

He is a flexible guy (in terms of price) and also in attitude. A very easy to talked to guy. I bought ALL my lightings from TaoBao and some came in batches, my ceiling fans were from Tampoi in JB. He is OK to install bit by bit for me, example my first batch of lights came first, he sent his worker nearby to install just that batch for me, and he told me when next batch of lighting come, he send his worker come to install again. This is how flexible he is. He doesn't even collect a single cent from me until my job is FULLY done. (You go around see which electrician will do that. Haha) For those of you who want his contact, please PM me with your Name and Contact Number. I will link you both up. Just for reference his pricing (per point): These prices are just for reference, trust me, can go lower New Lighting point: $32 Single Point: $45 Double Point: $55 Install Lights: $10 Install ceiling fan: $50 Disclaimer first: I understand that many people in RenoTalk is afraid of self-promoting scams. Due to the fact that there are too many self-promoting contractors, etc, I must say I am not a clone account nor this recommended electrician's self promoting.
