Seanster 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Well if you have a budget to blow then get the id to do all the renovation work. What I've done so far : - Design ,hacking ,plumbing ,tiles, carpentry .... ID take care.(By the way , ID will earn certain % commisions if he/she was to take you on a 'shopping trip' e.g lights or bathrooms accessories) . - Electrical works , plastering & painting .... I hired my own contractors. I'm using Clipsal switches for my whole house except for SCV points.Best part is no extra charge in choosing clipsal over normal switches. Total cost around $1600 - $1800. crrabb 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Hi folks,Here's my quote from the ID's electrican. My new 5-rm flat already got switches and concealed wiring, so mainly incur cost on the new lighting points and some new and shifting of switches.install PLC lighting points $35 x 6install halogen downlights $35 x 13install pendent light $50 x 1install ceiling lighting points $30 x 2install fluorescent tube lighting points $35 x 6install light fittings $10 x 36install hob and hood point $80 x 2install single 13A point $40 x 1install dimmer point $30 x 2install 2-way switches point $30 x 2shift SCV points $60 x 3shift telephone point $50 x 1shift single 13A point $30 x 2shift double 13A point $35 x 2install doorbell $20 x 1install 15A point for aircon $180 x 1labor to run surround speaker wiring (cable excluded) $100total damage = $2325Think this quote is to the high side if compared to the electricians outside. But on the other hand saves us the trouble looking for another reliable electrician and also the coordination and warranty considerations.
