If its really stainless, it will not rust.

Bleach must have been used for cleaning at some point, as it contain chlorine and is the causes.

It will be best if you bring the handle with you when you buy a new handle. So you can easily find a handle for your cabinet. I think you forgot to tell us the design of the handle that you want. Do you like antique style or modern style?
