Pyearl's Reno Journal

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've been reading a lot in Renotalk and it has given me lots of inspiration and invaluable lessons and contacts . Finally, after searching and meeting numerous

IDs and contractors , we've shortlisted two to work on our 33yrs old 5'I' . Basically as this is our first time being so involved in a major project , natuarally we're extra enthusisatic and took about 1.5 months to finally ink on the dotted lines of both contracts and paid deposits.

Our 1st general contractor is Ronald and Seng and after meeting them and visiting one of the client's house , we felt comfortable as they're able to meet our reno dateline, fast response to our queries , meeting our budget and decent workmanship seen at their client's place ( she seemed happy and satisfied).

Our 2nd contractor is a well- known kitchen specialist - Classic . Our meetings with Pauline our designer was enjoyable and she was patient to listen to our needs , even working overtime till 11pm in one of our meetings as we were fickle-minded about our designs .

Actually, as our theme is a bit retro , a bit pop art , abit of mish mash , as my brother( this is his house) prefer the furnishings to reflect the owner's lifestyle , we want to keep reno to the minimum and spend more on furnishings.

We've also decided we need a storeroom so to keep the place as clutter free as possible , thus our storeroom design still not finalized yet as we want a storeroom to look like a feature wall instead .

Only hacking will start tomorrow and everything else will resume March 1st when I'll go crazy coordinating all the diff works - Flooring will be by Kronotex .

Anyway , here's my floorplan :P

I also do not like too much carpentry and customisation. There are a lot of nice ready-made pieces if you can spend the time to look for them.

btw, your place near the $990k unit?

Hey thanks CJREDDEVIL.

Going for quite major reno , everything goes except the marble flooring , quite retro looking so just polish . We'll be the 2nd owners so you can imagine why the reno quite major lah . Luckily for us , this place is undergoing upgrading at the same time so we saved quite abit on both toilets . :D
