Brass is non-ferrous, soft material just like aluminum, it breaks off easily.

Post a picture of the original screw, is there any nut on the wooden door?.

I replaced mine with stainless steel.

Remove one pc as sample and get the stainless steel type from hardware shop.

Buy exactly the same dimension; should be M6 x 12mm, No. 8. @ 15cents a pc.

As for the broke off pc, you need drill a small hole and then enlarge it to about 4mm dia without damaging the nut and use a pointed object like nail to slowly remove the stuck broken screw.

No, the other doors will not be affected so you dont have to worry about that. And just follow what the others said to you about your questions.

This is quite normal for brass screw.

Chg them to stainless... it will outlast the hinge itself.

Buy them from Daiso .... $2
