Clementi 3 Rm Renovation

Hi PR,

Used to stay in Clementi since young and I love that place.

Anyway, your quotation is on the high side for a 3rm lei. My EA's reno is 26k and we chose tiles from the $3 range.

Rewiring a 3rm I think is definitely cheaper if you hire your own electrician. I'm sure our bros and sis here have many contacts.

Halo guys,

New noob here joining the T-blog to renovate 1 kitchen + 2 bathroom.

Will get my key on mid march.

Still looking for id or contractor to do the make over.

Interested on one id because their location (near clementi) and the pricing.

Also they got a good portfolio.

Might need some advices from Reno Expert regarding the quotation and design.

Let say i opt out the rewiring and use my own electrician to do the job.

When is best time to do the rewiring?

Can i do that after everything done on my main id/contractor,

or i can slip the electrician job in the schedule?

electrical works are to be done after sealant paint , before the carpentry is in. carpentry generally can be used for concealment of trunking so carpentry will be last. if you intend to have your switches concealed in your carpentry, you have to coordinate with your electrician and carpenter to ensure that the electrician can connect the switches after the carpentry is up and that the carpenter must provide pre-drilled holes in the carpentry to allow the carpenter to run wires.

it is ethical because the more you ask them to do, the more they are responsible to you (of course the more you pay)

when i first tried to look for id/contractor, i already told them i'll want to get my own laminate, electrical, plumbing, glass works, aluminum works, window works, carpentry, get my own tiles. eventually, i only ask my finalised contractor to just do hacking because i realised i could do the rest at a cheaper cost yet better materials.

I think the kitchen is also a bit ex, why not try independent kitchen contractor and see what kind of package they can give you. I think for the same price you can get way better quality.

The tiles at $2.80 i think is reasonable cause many will state $2.50 but there isn't many tiles that look nice at that kind of price.

It is ethical to get your own electrician because ultimately the contractor knows you're going for the best price. It'ld be good to have a contractor that can work with your electrician. My electrician did all electrical works after the wet works before carpentry went up. Coordination was done by the site manager in charge of my reno, so I didn't actually have to tell my electrician when to come. I hope you'll have a pleasant reno journey.
