Any Contractor Or Id With Experience Doing Cement Flooring?

Recommended Posts

hi all,

I'm shopping around some IDs to mainly do up two bathrooms, kitchen, and just a little of the living room. I'm very specific with what I want - I want cement floor in the living room (and preferably light coloured cement floor).

But I'm not sure if there are many contractors with these experience. I don't want poor workmanship... so, if any of you have anything done with a cement floor or wall with an ID or contractor, please PLEASE PM me or let me know here who your contractor/ID is!

Thanks sooo much!

In Singapore, there is no one know how to do a proper cement flooring without cracking.

hmm yeah, what a waste. Concrete floor is a beauty, but practical reasons it is stopping us..

Due to our humid weather and the building movement, there sure be hairline cracks occur. Even for plastering, same. Why HDB flats build those ugly groove lines at the walls have their purpose for it.

Want to bump this up - we just bought a 5-room resale with very well-maintained broken marble flooring, but want to hack it and use cement screed instead. Any particular contractors to recommend? Thanks!

if you want to do cement flooring, you should split it up to sections and use a stainless steel or copper strip inlay.

if you want a cement flooring that does not crack (hairline crack dont count lah), use ready mix concrete from the cement truck.

sure will be much much better :-)

i wanted to do cement spreading for my kitchen wall but was advise that its not gonna last long. is that true? is it due to the expansion n contraction of the building?

if its your general kitchen wall then its ok.

but if its for a wall that is exposed to water splashing, oil stains .... then best is to use something solid to cover the wall.

eg. glass, stainless steel, tiles, solid surface, etc.

raw cement stained by cooking oil, you will cry.

if you scrub the oil portion, when dry the tone at that area might not match with other area, you will cry again.

unless you lacquer the cement.

I'm also thinking of doing cement screed for my unit. Only 1 out of 5 IDs mentioned this to me.

I want to do away with the tiles cos I've slipped many times in the living room with homogeneous tiles. :curse:

ID proposed the following when doing cement screed:

- waterproof membrane

- sand, cement, chemical cement, white chemical cement, adhesive cement

- clear matt sealer "tufseal" membrane

- river pebbles (to create some design)
