sunlounger 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2010 Hi, I'm close to buying a new private apartment but there is a problem with the master bathroom - the toilet is leaking badly and has damaged the bathroom tiles as well as the master bedroom floorboards (see pix below). I suppose the pipes have burst? And the leakage must have been going on for some time. I will probably have to hack and redo the whole toilet as well as hack and replace the master bedroom floorboards. Does anyone have any idea how much this is likely to cost? Any comments would be very helpful. Thanks!! Can try to isolate the hot water first to see if that pipe is leaking. Conceal pipe very hard to quote, lucky strike can find, otherwise, must hack everywhere. Can test by knock on the tile for hollowness, just a gauge. It you want cheaper, get plumber to divert both pipe for expose pipe and make good whats damage. Mine is the hot water pipe in the common bathroom, just get plumber to install a tap to cut off hot water supply, cos I can using storage tank.
tracy 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 the condition is quite bad. i think it is better to get a contractor up to assess the condition or do a site survey. my mum's house have these kind of problems too. end up hack and redo everything with real PROPER waterproofing then viola! everything done.
