Recommended Posts

From the article:

The Scope

For years my wife has been on at me to put a computer into the kitchen where she can manage her recipes, shopping lists, to do lists and access the internet for looking up various things. After looking at a couple of pretty basic and well overpriced commercial units we decied to have a crack at doing this ourselves.

Her requirements:

- must be discrete and look like a digital picture frame when not being used.

- must be touchscreen.

- must have internet access.

- must be easy to use and not crash often (shes used to windows vista)

- must have barcode scanner for managing her kitchen database.

- the wires and techo stuff must be hidden and out of sight.

- should be able to view whats on the lounge TV in the kitchen.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Wow that's such an innovative design!

Can advise if I wish to do likewise, is the size of the TS the most optimum. I am assuming that the screen protection will be an issue as well since you may be browsing and cooking at the same time? Thanks.

Chris

Eh ... only realize the thread now.

I never setup that one. No budget yet. Maybe in future with cheap iPad can do this :D

Lol, that would have been cool. I was in the market looking at home automation but I realised that OMG, the amount spent could easily cover a COV of a HDB flat these days. Actually hor, I'm told by the industry suppliers that the Ipad can be used for such home automation systems instead of purchasing an additional universal touch screen. I'm just thinking how they can integrate man...
