Hi. Can I know where you got the white laundry bins from? Really nice and clutter-free :D Thanks!

I bought them from Ikea!!! Its on the 1st level near where all the bins, magnectic boards, storage boxes are located.

I LOVE Ikea!! Would have gotten the Kramfors sofa from there - cheap and comfy - if it hasn't already been discontinued. Found out when hubby and I went to Ikea some weeks ago. It was a sad, sad, sad day.

And thanks for all the advice on laminates, very very useful. We intend to use white, in fact hubby wants it pure white, but in light of what you said we should really go look at the laminates in person before setting things in stone. Unfortunately our contractor is quite clueless on thicker laminates so we'll have to decide which brand to use and tell him to get it.

Oh yah, his carpenter seems unwilling to use thicker laminates. He said he doesn't have the right machinery to cut the thick laminates properly so edges may not be nice. Sounds like bs to me, but anyway that's another hurdle that we'll have to cross later. :(

Best is to go look at the laminates. Some of the companies (I think Lamitak) might give you a bigger laminate to have a better idea of the final product. Thicker laminate means more cost for the contractor & less profit for them. So if you have already confirm the pricing, contractors generally do not wish to offer a thicker laminate. Generally the quality of laminates are the same from different companies for the same thickness. Difference will come later in the skill of the carpenter.

Sigh.. fftw.. I posted a long long reply to your blog, thought I submit already and end up didnt get posted.... anyway...

HI!!!!! fellow P@D neigbhour!!!! I have been following your blog on your reno and dare not approach you for dennis contact as I am not sure whether i will get my keys to my P@D flat. but luckily I just managed to collect the keys. So while you and family are already happily enjoying yr stay there, i can only admire and be envious of you and start to scratch head on what to do next.

Same as you, mine is 5 rm but i kept forgeting what type is ours. i love your reno, all neat and cluster free. minimal but all essential stuff in and make the place look so spacious. tat is really a good job done without an ID! I can never have your open concept kitchen as mummy is a "heavy" user. rather contain the "gease" in one place than have it all over the place!

BTW, can I have Dennis contact? but the blog/ forum dummy me do not know how to PM you. Can you teach me how to?

I hope my this entry will be posted! hiaz.... :)

Hope to be able to catch up at P@D!

Love what you have done in the kitchen!! Wish I could have changed all the hinges and drawers to Blum too... but my ID was saying this is brand new from the developer, just use first then change when it spoils! Reallly like the way all the stuff is hidden behind cabinets too!!

Thanks patsy_sg :) I am a neat freaked & hate anything too exposed.

Don't waste $$$ on unnecessary things! I will advise you the same. Since its a new development, best to make full use of the items you paid $$$ :)

Same here, been accused of having OCD coz everything has to be in order, alphabetized and arranged by size ;)

I know it's not a good idea to change especially since I tend to move every 2 years! at least my ID is using Blum for all the carpentry he's building for me...

You shift every 2 years?!? Don't you get tired of moving? I admire your tenacity :) This is the 16 house that I lived in :( & I hope to stay put for at least the next 5 years cos I am so tired of packing & unpacking!

not by choice really... but it is fun too, change of scene and space.. but I SWEAR this is the last for a while!!

Moving is a great way to de-clutter also... every time I move, I donate anything I haven't used in the last 2 years....

Dear fftw,

I really enjoyed reading your detailed blog and thanks for sharing. Can you PM Dennis's contact to me please? My fiance and I have decided to go for contractors instead of IDs.

Cheers!

You are asking a wrong question, I think Dennis is an ID instead of contractor.
