The Pinnacle @ Duxton - S2

Recommended Posts

Hi fftw, it looks fine to me but are you doing something to the bomb shelter or just leave it as it is? Paste wall paper? I'm doing a feature wall to have my Guan Yin altar there and some display materials.....

I can't put anything not movable in front of this bomb shelter as my maid will be sleeping inside. But Dennis agreed to paint the bomb shelter door and the room door frames to a same shade as my walls. So now I need to go through the paint catalogue to find a glossy paint that matches my walls. After Dennis paints the door, I am going to put these three painting that I did on the 3"walls". What do you think?

Actually the concern is not electricity bill but rather the water bill that will go up since the hot water to the sink is from the gas heater. The gas heater will only "fired up" when you turn on the tap. So if insist on using hot water to wash dishes, will have to let the cold water run (waste water) for a while (mayb 2-3 mins) before you get hot water. Unless you let the water run continuously when washing dishes, at the end of the day, there might not be much hot water at the sink.

IMHO, too much water wastage.

Hi TYM,

I don't disagree with you but prefer to wash our dishes with hot water. Usually, my maid will rinse with hot water and after washing, she will "soak" the disher in hot water for a couple mins. We are so use to it already so no choice.

I think have hot water to wash oily utensils is real efficient thus I would like to have that for my new house too.

But doing ALL the dishes would be a luxurious habit.

Your maid is good at utilizing resources, but guess she wouldnt do this for ALL dishes if she is in charge of paying the utility bills :P

I know what you mean! We went to Sansei to check out the sinks with the sinks we like costing around the region of a minimum of $500! My eyes nearly popped out of its sockets! Its really pricey esp when you compared it to places like Poh Joo that cost less than $200 for a nice sink.

Thanks! I paint it myself :)

She now sleeps in the back of the house where there is no window, just a balcony outside the back of her room. But she likes to close the balcony doors. I find it stuffy too but she likes it. In any case, I don't have a room except the bomb shelter.

Thanks for making me feel better :) She is quite spoiled by my hubby. She has a television in her own room (hubby gave it to her for her birthday) and goes to bed by 10pm because she tells me & hubby she has to wake up by 6 am to get my daughter up at 6.15am. Think between sleeping with my daughter or bomb shelter, she rather sleeps in a bomb shelter

She will not wash any dishes if she is paying the utilities! She will just wipe!

Its not that she is good at utilizing resources, its that she is so crap at washing dishes at times i.e. she doesn't use elbow grease to wash that our plates sometimes still have food residue on it! So hubby can't tahan and told her to use hot water (he is used to wash dishes with hot water since young as that is the way the Aussies does it). He told her that if hot water still cannot wash plates properly then we will sack her. Since then no major problems but I am pretty strict & constantly check my pots, pans, dishers, etc.

Let there be LIGHT! Almost...

Yesterday was the day where the entire house will be filled with lights :) Unfortunately there was an "accident" with my electrician's son. To cut a long story short, we went back to the house at 6 pm thinking that we can now see how pretty our home will be awashed with the beautiful warm of the cove lighting. However, when I stepped into the house, I was a little peeved when I noticed that the windows in my living room was open. When we investigated further, I noticed that our electrician's tools were still in the house & the snack we bought + the "rubbish" was still in the house. So maybe our electrician when out for a little break?!?

After about 10 mins, our electrician & his son, who was helping him all day, came back to the house. Then I noticed that the poor little boy's left foot was bandaged from the ankle to the tip of the large top! What happened? Our electrician told us it was just a small cut. A small sut that required such a large bandaged + medication from the clinic?!? Electrician just smile grudging and went back to work. The poor boy was in obvious pain, so hubby & I "forced" our electrician to finish work some other time. Both he, his son & us are relief he took our advise. So hubby & I left for the day, while our electrician insist on doing some small touches.

Today when we went back to the new home again (cos I forgot to take photos for this blog), we realised that our electrician clean up good, including removing all the debris of boxes & snacks & even sweep the floor! He is such a responsible guy :)

Anyway here are some before and after photos. Hope it gives you some inspiration.

Before of Bedroom 3

This bedroom will not have a wardrobe. It will be use as hubby's temporary office till baby No. 2 arrives in year 2011 (yes, we are planning!)

Let there be LIGHT - Bedroom 2

This is our daughter's room. Its slightly bigger than bedroom 3 (very, very slightly bigger). It will have a wardrobe. The cove lighting will be above the wardrobe (the shorter cove lighting is where the wardrobe is located) and along the window like in Bedroom 3.

Exhaust Fans in the Bathrooms

Remember we wanted the exhaust fans in the bathrooms to ensure that we don't start having fungus in our fake ceiling in the bathroom? Dennis took the glass out so that he may cut out the "hole" for the exhaust fan.

IMG_0242-1.jpg

This is how the installed KDK fan looks like in the bathrooms, before all the power connections are fixed.

However hubby does not like the look of it so we are thinking of changing it. What do you think?
