fftw 1 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Isn't Cotton White also White? I choose the colour Cotton white, thinking it will be a "warm" white and it will blend in with my off white capentry in the living & dining room. But to my "horror", I realised its far from white. Hubby said its alright and does gives the house a "homely" and "warm" feel. I am not so sure... Here is a photo of the bomb shelter door which is white verses my wall. The difference is quite obvious. Let me know what you think Told Dennis, my contractor cum ID that I am so shock by the colour. I ask him why he didn't call me when he saw the colour. He thought I knew it will be such a colour. I ask him if I can change the colour even though everything were painted. He got a shock, but agreed if it was really that bad. Actually it is really not that bad. The colour grows on you. Also, I am not an unreasonable person. At the end of the day, I am the one who choose the colour, so no one else to blame but me Edited January 27, 2010 by fftw

fftw 1 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Custom Made Dining Table Our dining table will be the same material as the solid top that we will be using for our Kitchen counter table. It will follow the rectangular shape of the cove lighting above except it will end at the wall dividing the Kitchen from the Living/Dining. Under this window is where my sink will be is located. The wall on my right will be where my 600mm hob & hood is placed. Opposite that of my hob & hood is a floor to ceiling cabinets containing my 6 doors fridge, steam oven & toaster+hot flask. The steam oven & toaster/hot flask will be covered using the Blum Aventos series of hinges. In fact, my entire set of Kitchen cabinets hinges will be Blum. TYM 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 The "Nihon" Railways is a result of the fact that we not only have a gas heater for the water, we also have a gas dryer & using pipe gas. On top of it all, we also have hot water for the Kitchen sink, which most local households do not have. My husband insist that our domestic helper use hot water to wash dishes. So no choice Congrats on our new place. Just to share our experience in using the citygas gas heater. Hot water is not instant, takes a while to reach tap. Been using the gas heater for the past 2 years and on average, takes about 2-3 mins for the water to get reasonably warm when showering. Also, the water might not be hot enough when both the showers are being used at the same time. We do not have hot water for washing dishes.

KSJL 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Spoke to Dennis, the only thing he can do is to re-route one of the pipes so its parallel to another pipe. He will box us as much as he can and paint the pipes the same color as the wall for those that can't be boxed up. The "Nihon" Railways is a result of the fact that we not only have a gas heater for the water, we also have a gas dryer & using pipe gas. On top of it all, we also have hot water for the Kitchen sink, which most local households do not have. My husband insist that our domestic helper use hot water to wash dishes. So no choice Use hot water to wash dishes? Wow - then your electricity bill will go up monthly....though we bought a kitchen mixer with hot and cold water type but we got Edmund (ID) to just run cold water will do....yesterday City Gas fix up my gas pipe and it is running from the top then down to my hob, i really hope Edmund can do something about it as the copper pipe really ugly - maybe just paint it as white or something but still see the pipe running...anyway, leave it to him to do something for me..... Paste wall paper? I'm doing a feature wall to have my Guan Yin altar there and some display materials.....
TYM 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Use hot water to wash dishes? Wow - then your electricity bill will go up monthly.... Actually the concern is not electricity bill but rather the water bill that will go up since the hot water to the sink is from the gas heater. The gas heater will only "fired up" when you turn on the tap. So if insist on using hot water to wash dishes, will have to let the cold water run (waste water) for a while (mayb 2-3 mins) before you get hot water. Unless you let the water run continuously when washing dishes, at the end of the day, there might not be much hot water at the sink. IMHO, too much water wastage. Also, the water might not be hot enough when both the showers are being used at the same time. We do not have hot water for washing dishes. Hi TYM, Thanks for letting me know The only reason why we choose City Gas heater is because of the cost & ease. We currently have a F&P dryer & it really "eats" up the electrical bill! Hopefully with the gas dryer, it will be cheaper. Since we are getting the gas dryer, we thought we might as well get the gas heater, otherwise, we may need to get two heaters. One storage heater for the bathroom and another heater for under the sink (we use hot water to wash our dishes), like what we currently have at our current place. However, since we are putting a dishwasher under the sink, we can't put another water heater there. So in the end, the gas heater seem to be the best solution for us all around.
