As my house is around 20years old, i would like to change all the windows and doors and door frames.

Whats the best advice? to hack out and get the door & window specialist to install?

or whats the best way to go around it?

are you engaging any ID or contractor? U can get contacts for the window grills and have them quote for u. Hacking and removal should be included.

If you're just doing the windows and doors, the guys selling you the windows and doors can recommend someone to do the job for you.

If you're doing a reno of the whole house, the ID or contractor should take charge of everything.

i have spoken to both ids n contractor and seems that their quotes are quite high or marked up. so i am thinking if i get it straight from direct supplier maybe cheaper... installation of 4 door frames already quoted 1k without doors...

will the window supplier hack and remove the existing windows as well?

I got all my windows and grills replaced through direct window and grill supplier last week. I was quoted $13psf for white coated aluminium with green tinted glass and $7psf for white coated aluminium grill. It includes installation and removing my existing window and grill. Hope that help you with the cost estimation.

Sliding is cheaper.

Sliding window is cheaper than casement.

My Id told me that casement windows need maintainance every 6 months to ensure safety as per HDB requirement. There might be some cost for it, I'm not sure what kind of cost he meant.
