Feedback On My Reno/furnishing

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have consulted the boards often even though haven't really posted much. I never realised the mammoth task until a month before my in laws were arriving from overseas. Many things went right, but many things also went wrong and I really wanted to share my frustration.

Mainly, many vendors speaking very sweetly. but the moment the sale is done, there is countless bad service that me and my fiance have been having conflicts.

These companies make us feel like we it to them to beg for delivery or proper service instead of them feeling badly that they haven't delivered products or services on time or shoddy service.

1) Contractor must have taken too much on so couldn't deliver the full works by the time the house was to be occupied

2) Leakages in bathrooms sink basin

3) Electrical guy left glass pane for lights out and carpentry people hit against the glass and now my hall light's glass covering is not up.

3) Kitchen was not ready when house warming was on causing much inconvenience

4) FH took leave to be at home for delivery of sofa, which was only delivered at 7 instead of 11 to 3 pm

5) Electrical shop delivered 2 fans short and did not even inform us before hand. When FH went over, he ended up with yelling match with salesman who complained that my FH was creating trouble while the shop was opening

6) Phone company did not turn on phone line on prescribed day

7) Wall Mounting of TV - renovations was ongoing so the TV guys said they would come back 2 days later. After 25 tries, got through to the installation people who said that there was no job record so had to bulldoze my way to get a date this week

Well and I am getting married next week, so hopefully the wedding people deliver accordingly!

:-)

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

hi, yes i agree.... it is a huge and tiring task... but i am sure that it will be very fulfilling when you see that completed results :)

my house is also undergoing renovation and is around 50% completed... had to chase various parties to get things done... coordinate with the deliveries... deciding on the best design.... etc....

on a separate note, as we engaged an ID, everything is through them... all sub contractors... carpentry, lighting purchase, toilet accessories....etc.... so anything got problem we let them know and they will settle...

but as we watch the reno progress bit by bit each day, we feel that all the sacrifices is worth all the trouble :)
