boxerfan 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 I am looking for a pair of surround speakers to complement my hifi speakers to form 4.0 HT setup. Any recommendation of reasonably good surround speaker brand/model that I can consider? Need to be 8ohm (my AVR has problems with 6ohm speakers), and to be wall mounted on rear wall. Thanks for any help.

boxerfan 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2009 Bro What AVR are you using & whats your budget for the surround speakers? Cheers My current setup consist of Harman Kardon AVR5500 + Rogers LS6a fronts + Infinity Primus 100 rear. Having issues with the Infinity coz it is 6 ohm and causes the AVR to cutoff during loud volume. Am sourcing around for surround to replace the Inifinity, and maybe a center. Came across the Mission EH3 bipole surround, what do u think? Budget wise, below $500 for the surround, if can squeeze in center even better. Saving other part of budget for a 2nd hand Focal Spectral 909 that a friend may want to unload, as well as new Plasma TV. Any feedback or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!! Bro Is your HK 5500 a 6 or 8 ohm receiver? Im thinking u should change your old AVR to a HDMI compliant receiver. Cheers
boxerfan 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2009 Receiver is 8 ohm. 75W/ch. Right now the receiver is used for audio only (decode SPDIF from HTPC & drive speakers). All video is HTPC direct to display (either VGA or HDMI, both are connected). Maybe I'll consider upgrading receiver next year. Right now my priority are the speakers...
