gladyslim 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Stainless steel won't rust easily, it can last you many many years. Nowsaday, you see stainless steel panel for the lift, railing in HDB common corridor, in food court etc. Those that rusts fast should be chrome finishing as in dish rack, mesh shelving, the hanging rod in your wardrobe is one good example. Zhiz's 3 items are all stainless steel of 304 grade. No need to keep dry to prevent rust or use special chemical to maintain it.

gladyslim 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 mine also.. rust appear just a month after using. Now I tell people stainless steel does not mean wun rust one. I normally will take a cloth and some oil and rub on it until it comes off, something like how you will clean the rifle after an outfield. (those who go through NS before will know what I mean). After that apply some oil and install it back. Mine is from Hoe Kee btw. Now I know you the chicken brand so ex liao. Thinking of spraying some clear paint after removing the rust next time. dunno will help ornot. Maybe yours is not stainless steel, its just chrome finishing like the hanging pipe in your wardrobe. Use a pc of magnet to test it. Metal and brass can be electroplate to get the BA and Hairline finishing like in stainless steel. It can also be nickel plated that one thinks is stainless steel as in spacer and in chrome finishing as in those supermart trolley.

Im wondering does those cleaner for Automobile actually will works.. so it forms a shield and prevent watermarks and stains from forming If your item is not stainless steel, there no point to waste your oney to get the 3M cleaner which is around $16/- a can or the genuine Autosol which is $4.50 Most towel rod is chrome plated unless you buy from shop specialise in bathroom accessories.. gladyslim 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Your tap is stainless steel or stainless steel plated? Most tap is made by method of casting. thus the quality is different from those 304 or 316 grade. I bought the 'P' brand close $100/-, the quality is so so only. As for Autosol, this is a cream, more or less greasy, if you did not wipe is well enough, you can see finger print too. Maybe after using Autosol, wash it with dish liquid detergent, Edited December 31, 2009 by gladyslim
