Hi all,

First time doing reovation here. Got a quote after some searching. Moeny is still tight and do not want to spend so much on a three room flat. already not putting whole wall tiles for kitchen ( leave as half)

I did not include all the items as we are still revising it. Just the major ones here. Also the taps, hood, hob, toilet bowl, lights all not provided. Its 20K already.

Supply & lay 600x600mm polished homogeneous floor tiles for living , store & 2 bed rms with skirting. $3298

03. Supply & lay 300x300mm homogeneous tiles for kitchen floor. $830

05. Supply & lay 300x300mm non-slip homogeneous floor tiles for 2 toilet. $800

06. Supply & lay water proof membrane for 2 toilet. $200

08. To convert squart bowl at kitchen toilet to sitting bowl. $250

09. To replace existing water pipe for kitchen & 2 toilet. ( copper pipe) $680

I think the quote doesn't include price psf for the homogeneous tiles right? I'm going through this process as well now and saw on average ~$2.60 - $3.00 psf.

yes. the contractor didnt specify on price psf. I find the cupboards also rather pricey since there is no price psf also. shd i get a carpenter to do it instead? if separate then get tiling done first then cupboard? or else sure got gaps yea?

As a whole, i feel its reasonable.

Yes, be prepared to factor in another lump sum (perhaps $5-10k) on accessories, such as those u mentioned, the taps, hood, hob, toilet bowl, basins, lightings.

Remember to watch out for the GST component too.

hi wendy, overall the quote seems quite reasonable.... it is quite similar to the quotes i gotten for my reno.... currently doing the tiling works

however you might want to check what is the price range of tiles you can choose from....

with regards to the kitchen tiles, i had wanted to forego it also.... but my ID suggested that i keep the part that is going to be hidden by the kitchen cabinets and replace the exposed ones.... for the exposed part between the top and bottom cabinet, use tempered glass to cover them as a design concept....

it saved us around 1000... on the hacking and re-tiling

but using tempered glass to overlay sufficient meh? what if the old tiles pop out

or crack etc? will it have any affect on the glass overlaid?

hi, yes we did raise this with the id... tempered glass can withstand great pressure without breaking, and force exerted by tiles poping out is not great..... everything is sealed in so you would not know if it cracks.... same as fitting the cabinet over the tiles.....

and even if the overlaying is on the new tiles... there are also possibilities that they will crack....
