leeguan9 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 Hi People . Has anyone did parquet over their Ceramic Tiles ? My Contractor said that cost to remove ceramic and do cement screening is exp . ( 2~3 K for 3 bed room) Laying of parquet + flooring work will end up around 5~6 K If lay parquet over ceramic tiles will be cheaper. Less than 3K for 3 bedroom . If lay parquet over ceramic tiles , will the parquet appear "hollow hollow" like laminate? What will be the estimated cost for an area of ~600sft cost for parquet ? Many Thanks Any advice welcome.....

broken 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 HI, I laid parquet over ceramic tiles in my previous flat. Does not have hollow sound and it feels solid. What is very important is the condition of the underlying ceramic tiles. Please get your contractor to check if there are any existing problems first. For example, there are some ceramic tiles that are not laid properly and may pop out after some years. If that happens, your parquet will spoil. My contracter quoted me about $4.80 per square ft for 1 foot parquet. Hope the above helps.

Yes u save pretty much in that sense BUT u must take note of the level between yr rms and living rm. If u r jus doing the 3rms and nt the living rm, u'll end up hvg a step at the parquet termination beneath the doors.
