born_again 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 I would like to knw Granite top or Solid Surface top for kitchen cabinet is beta? Which is more expensive? Which is durable or beta? Need to knw it urgently. Thx pro... previous place we used an expensive brand of solid surface top....easy to clean and maintain. Looks perfect even when we moved out. Over at new place, we using granite top and I would say WE LOVED IT! Much easier to clean and maintain. I'll opt for granite top from now on.
crystal535 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 I've read thru some posts, some saying granite might stain n solid surface is nt heat resistant n ect. Izit thru? Solid surface or granite top more ex?
Batman 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 granite will be more ex. by my reckoning, it'll be abt few 10s of dollars more. if e ID u spoke to tell u its abt 2x, then u knw they'll be off ur shortlist for me, i'm also opting for black galaxy granite top for my kitchen top and its approx S$110 per ft run. and yes u r right abt e heat resistant part. being a 'plastic' by nature, there's only so much heat e solid surface can withstand. just imagine placing a hot iron on the ironing board. if its for a short while, its ok. but if u forget, then u'll get a burnt mark. hope this helps. born_again 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Hi.. Thx 4 e details. As for stains ne? Which 1 is more prone on stains.? Means Granite is beta den solid surface top? granite also got from China and India. And not all solid surface cheaper than granite. For stain, basically solid surface top is more prone to stains especially if the colour u choosing is in the lighter colour range. I dont have a problem for my black galaxy so far and I think granite would add a few more bucks to your valuation when u wanna sell ur flat next time. if you have the budget, want near zero maintenance then opt for granite. hello88 2 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 Donno y my ID told my granite is cheaper den solid surface. So granite is more easier to maintain ya? solid surface like the brand corian can be more ex than granite but black galaxy most expensive. if u compare black solid surface to black granite and white solid surface to white or light granite then granites are easier to maintain.
