Hi SGBuzz

We are on the same boat, I understand how you feel. Haiz ya. Open Net said only can install during the stated period that is 25 Jan - 11 Feb , no earlier. If later then need to pay. :(

My ID said once the L-Box is up then lay the bracket above the floor at skirting area that is the only choice. If you manage to get a solution do let me know asap. :)

I am leaving a trunking expose going into the store room. from there it will punch thru my false wall. Something like this.

Hi SGBuzz

Did u engaged CI to do the electrical works ? I let CI do the electrical works in a package.

Below are the details

Re-Wiring for whole house

1)26 nos of Lighting points

2)8 nos of 13A single power points

3)12 nos of 13A double power points

4) 5 nos of scv points

5) 5 nos of tel points

6) 1 no of 15A air-con point

7) 1 no of 15A heater point

8) 1 no of mcb

9) Labour to install light

Total = $2950

Remarks:Using normal Clipsal single or double power points (with two screws seen from front) and normal switches.

I wanted to change to those bigger switch ones. Then they show my catalog from Clipsal and Legrand.

I ask the electrician which brand is more cheaper. His answer was not much difference but from my findings Legrand switches are more ex.

The electrician will help me do the purchase and install. I am not changing for the single and double power points. Then the laying of electric cables are on next monday. But till now my ID from CI have not get back to me how much to top up for the switches. What if later they charge $300 to top up for Legrand switches after they have install ? I become carrot head. I will call the ID and tell him don buy first.

Are you going to change the switches to those bigger ones only ? How about changing single & double powerpoints with screws cover up ?

Have you went to buy the switches yourself ?

Hi Ninja,

i am only changing the face plates for the switches. The power points i am leaving them alone. I think it's better for you to call your ID and tell him you will supply the switches face plates and ask him to give you the qty to buy.

To me every time you want to change anything they will just give you a $200 or $300 which i find fishy.

So in case being chop carrot spend a bit more time and effort is worth it.

Cheers :P

On Saturday afternoon, we headed out to Chee Kong --> closed.

Then we tried out Choo Chiang --> closed.

All other electrical shops --> closed! :bangwall:

After spending 2 hours chasing after shops who have closed for the day, we spotted one just 10 min walk from our new home.

As time was running tight with SgBuzz leaving for a 6am flight, and the electricians needing the switches on Tuesday, we bought the switches.

The only consolation were (i) cheaper than HomeFix, (ii) i could have ended up wasting more fuel / parking looking for those shops.

We spend a total of $124 (w/o GST). The single gang 1-way was selling for $4. The heater $14 (HomeFix was $24). These are the prices which i remembered off the cuff.

hi Ninja

I think we have been chopped already. Our quote came with a 'rewiring of whole unit (as per floor plan)', costing 'est. $4055'.

I am not sure what the floor plan is. Comparatively, I think you got a better deal. ;)

We got the Legrand. We got some 2-way as well. If you want, i can take a look at the receipt tmr when i go to the new house.

The single gang 1-way was $4.00. Homefix was $6.50. Not sure how much the other cheaper shops are selling.

ok,sure.thanks. I feel that Legrand switches are nicer than other brands but seem to be more ex.

You bought the switches at $124. Initial the electrician quote u $330 to change just the switches. We are not carrot heads ! :angry2:

I will be meeting my ID & electrician to confirm the switches and sockets before they start laying the wires tmr. The electrician will also give me the quote to change the switches and sockets. Surely will be very ex. I am thinking of installing LAN points in bedroom using Cat6E cables.

Where is the shop located u have bought the switches from ?

You got install LAN points in your house ?

LAN points --> sorry I am not sure. I have been a sleeping partner as far as the reno was concerned. However, now that Sgbuzz is away, I have to be more on.

The switches are from this shop R e n o h u b, along Upper Serangoon Road. It's actually just opposite the mosque (which is just before Helping Hand). Their website : http://renohub.com.sg/SwitchPlugs.php

If you have the time, think better go to Choo Chiang. Think they get their supplies from there. Saw a letter from Choo Chiang on their cashier counter. haha.

The saleslady said that the boss is actually a contractor and opened this shop so that his customer can select their choices more conveniently.

oic.haha. Time to work hard & smart on the reno progress. Thanks for the info, the Renohub website is well design. Wow u have smart eyes to spot a invoice from Choo Chiang. LOL.

I just receive a call from my ID regarding tmr and tue appt with him. I told him if his electrician quote too ex. I will buy myself but he said don worry will be reasonable price. Becos he wants me to intro my friends to him for reno. yaya. I will see how.

Just to take note the single and double sockets they are going to install in your house will the two screws be seen ? Unless u & SGbuzz don mind. Becos my current house got it and the screws rust don look nice better to hide it.

My previous EM laminated flooring from supreme has the same condition, the skirting color & the texture is NOT the same as the wooden-laminated planks....meaning = not the same manufacturing process......the only choice is to choose the most matching color tone to the laminated planks.......in my case, they even hv white-color skirting but I choose the darker tone(dark walnut color) skirting to match my flooring....

Note:

-Laminated wooden planks is compressed wood

-Skirting is normal wood with lamination

-molding strips/t-joints is normally pvc with lamination (normally used for joinings in-between doors entrance)

Hope these info helps!

Hey SG,

With reference to the above and your previous query, I found a sample of the wood trimming skirting for you to "look see look see"...hope it's not too late though...... ;) ......
