parc_oasis 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2009 Hello Everyone, Has anyone bought stuff (esp. beds and drawers of chest) from Unikhome? They have a shop at IFC and Plaza. I have following specific questions: a) They claim that their beds are from mahogany wood. Anyone who has experience can share if the claim is true (at 400-600 SGD range it sounds tough to believe .. ) b) How is the overall quality of their bed frames and chest drawers? I am buying almost 3k worth of stuff from them. c) Biggest concern: They have a promotion with DBS card (where in you get 15% discount of the list price) but then you need to pay everything (yes all the money) in advance itself. Is that normal for this shop? Has anyone done it and regretted it? Concern is obvious that I loose any power once the goods delivered don't match to satisfaction. Of course, if the history of shop is credible then I can still think about this risk. So, need advice people !! It's kind of urgent as their shipment container is already full and at best it will take me 2 months to get my stuff. (again another issue but bearable till january end). Advice people!! Advice people!! 15% is about $400+ off right? this is quite alot but is it worthit to take such a huge risk? I've not visited Unikhome yet.... there's a thread here --> http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...amp;hl=unikhome or do another search and lots of reading up before u commit. I am also keen in their furniture, especially the dining table set and coffee table. However, I am also unable to gather any information on their quality, after-sales services and prices. Can anyone shed some light to this company? Thanks in advance.
parc_oasis 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Hi, I have decided NOT to buy from them. Multiple reasons have led me to this decision: a) Found the sales staff though friendly and non-pushy (which is good for my shopping experience) but also the type that was shifting all responsibility to the boss (who is a female with some serious attitude). b) I was so impressed with their product that I went to their showroom not just once but thrice (everytime with credit card ready for swap). But, trust me everytime I went there I couldnt take the card out. Well how would you when they say half the things on the final product can be attributed to nature of wood. Be it different colours, chipping of wood (yes shipping is not an acceptable defect), color fading on edges (yes at the time of delivery itself). I am not an expert on wood but this somehow didn't go down well with my left side of the brain. c) Reading other people's experience and combination of above two factors I would humbly suggest anyone at least not to fall for their 15% offer trap by paying fill amount. They taught me in school not to loose negotiation power by paying everything. I won't be surprised if the delivery guy shrugs off my complaints on quality and says "it's wood!" Best of luck with your purchase. Cheers Hi all, Is there any information pertaining to this company - Unikhome so far? I am looking for some wood furniture and do appreciate if you have any places (competitive pricing with quality in product and services) in mind that you could share with me. I guess I will have to search more before I make up my mind then.
