elfettucine 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2009 Hi folks, my renovation is ongoing and I have the chance to install an aircon in the living room before they do te falce ceiling etc. The previous owner swears the unit is cool enough and when it gets hot a fan will suffice, but I've got quite a high body temperature, got lots of gadgets and will be adding a projector. Aircon ledge can fit one more compresson, so I can just install a single unit. To do or not to do?

If you later decide to install then you will end up with large ugly trunking Anyway, I remembered my ID memtioned air con trunking cannot be hidden in false ceiling cos too thick liao. Need to use stuffs like your other furniture to hide. You can ask your ID for advise before you proceed bah

Since youre going to have a lot of audio & visual equipment, i suggest you go ahead with having an aircon in the living room. Its going to be your investment for a very long time. I was contemplating on having an aircon in the living room & decided to go for it since, I too, have plenty of AV equipment. The reward? Your own unparallel HT cinematic experience that your friends will envy. Cool & condusive environment helps. So, go ahead & get that aircon. Cheers

I went ahead and got it. Seems to be low stock at the moment, so my choice was between a Sanyo 18k BTU and a 25k BTU. To my surprise the salesman pushed me towards the 18k BTU, eventhough I was quite keen on the 25k BTU. His reasoning was that he was concerned my powerpoint couldn't handle a 25k BTU compressor and that it would be expensive to run in the long time, plus he was convinced 16k was enough for my living room. After reading your post and consulting another AV enthusiast, I decided to get it. If I didn't do it now during my reno, I know I'd be pissed off for a longtime. Thanks again! Bro Not sure if the aircon salesman is telling the truth. Im using a 25K BTU Mitsubishi Inverter system 4 aircon. And Im staying in an old AMK estate where my electrical loading is not upgraded to 40amps. But sanyo is also a good aircon but unfortunately I couldnt get their system 4 inverter, its precisely becoz my block is not equipped with the latest electrical loading. may i ask what HT system are you getting? Cheers

Cheers You're right dude. Think the salesman was telling porkies. Will do an upgrade to 25K BTU tomorrow. I've got a Denon AVR-2310 AV receiver with boston Acostics CS2310 speaker system and might use my B&Ws as front speakers, so eventually will have 7.1 system. Yummy! Will probably install Optoma HD20 projector as the inFocus X10 is no longer available.
