purplesky 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Hi purplesky, Thanks for sharing... Wow Nov 08 till now not completed with the reno hand over... that is toooooo much.... I can fully understand your stress... I am also worried that I might experience same situation as yours... as my new place is in the east but my work place is in the west (hb even though his company is in the east, he is station in the west most of the time) it is really tough for us to drop by as and when unless we have to take leave... I really how I can manage this monitoring all the time, as we can only drop by on Sat to see... Well, wish you all the best too for your reno and hope everything can settle ASAP. Hi Wenny, Just check my calender. Reno is actually suppose to start in nov'08. But my ID have to go for sudden reservice for 2 weeks, so delay and and started in dec'08. Cant remember 1 yr ago stuff liao, thought started in nov 08. Anyway, going to reach dec '09 soon, so it's going to be 1 yr soon. As of today, still have missing items here and there, and defects not settle yet. We didnt even really dare to check the workmanship, unless those that's very obivious. Cos dont think got much point to really check the workmanship, cos if not i really dont know how much longer it will drag? Scare wait 1 yr reno, wait become 1 1/2 yr or 2yrs reno! For yr case, if u cant go down to the site often, then try to at least go through all the items w yr contractor. Things like layout/measurements/materials & etc. Hope that if will helps lor. Thanks, wish u have all the best for yr reno too!

wennykoh 2 Report post Posted November 25, 2009 Hi Wenny remember me (false ceiling one), I have completed my renov last week and also have horrible experience. Every single piece of carpentry also must change and re-do and in the end have to accept some as I need to HO my existing place to my new buyer and I am left with no choice. Very stressful 7 weeks for me as I thought I have given sufficient time for them... haiz, all contactor the same kind, give measurements and drawing also end up with different things. so scare that don't want to ask for re-do as re-do might end up worst than before. There are so many defects that I have to accept that just before I shift in last week, I thought of selling the place. Even after I shifted in, the design are so bad and workmanship terrible that I had and is still having blue-black all over my legs and even cuts on my legs. Later going to buy sandpaper to see if I can file them without spoiling the laminate. If not will hack it off and rebuild or just buy off the shelve. Very exhausted over the whole renovation process except for my false ceiling, electrician and curtain guys who are fantastic. Hi Yuen2, I remember you. I am engaging your recommended false ceiling contractor to do the re-wiring and false ceiling for my place. She is very helpful. She knows that I am having unpleasant reno experience with my ID, so she is helping to source for other contractor to do the remaining of my place. So sorry to hear that the other part of your reno didn't go well... 7 weeks is definitely sufficient for carpentry work... workmanship sound really terrible leh... definitely must make noise and get the contractor to correct them at no additional cost. Perhaps you don't pay the remaining balance until they did a proper job.

CJREDDEVIL 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2009 Hi CJREDDEVIL, Yes, u didn’t read wrongly. My reno started in last year, and till now haven’t handover!!! How to cope for past yr? Very stress, lots of headache, tons of frustrations, started to have lots of white hairs suddenly, have to chase the id every time, have to endure the id shouting at us when it’s their fault, have to keep accepting the things that are already done and cant be change. Have to keep making trips down to check my place, take down the missing items/defects and 'report' to the id or now the mgr, and wait for them to get someone down to do, then we have to go and check and 'report' back to them again. The cycle just keep continuing lor. Think I’m slipping into depression liao. Those not very close friends even think that how come we nv inform them we have move liao, and why nv invite them to the house warming & etc. Who can believe 1 yr liao, and we havent move in yet!!! Sorry for making u hear my grumbles. Hi, so sorry to hear about those facts and stress you gone thru.... ...and there's something I would like to say..... ...I really salute your patience and endurance.....I dun think I will ever able to tahan for 1 month, not to mention it's 1yr++.... Cool & all the best to you!!!

Ya, Angela very helpful, when she realised that I was having issues with my ID, she also wanted to help but at that time was too late already. I have never try her carpentry source, let me know whether it is good or not as I am now thinking of hacking off the MBR bed and redo everything, tried to call some contactor but all rejected me saying they are fully booked till CNY. I think it is a nicer way to reject me and tell me the job is too small la... anyway using it for 2 years old maybe leave it... leave me know about Angela's carpentry ok.
