wennykoh 2 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Hi wenny, Howz things going on with your reno...hope it's fine & well......the pics looks good for a total reno. Cheers! Hi, The tiling work for the 3 toilets, living room, kitchen and balcony are almost done. We will meet the ID next Tuesday for tiling inspection thereafter hand over the place for us to engage and coordinate with other contractors on the rest of the reno. The only thing pending on the ID is the installation of Kitchen cabinets and toilet fitting. However, he asked us to pay up the rest of the reno balance. I'm not sure whether that is the usual practice as I always thought that we only paid up the remaining balance of 10% upon completion.

dannywmp 3 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Retain the 10% is the usual practice in the market unless this ID is not from Sg....perhaps from Batam hahaaa... You can use this 10% to drive them to complete all your work for you mah...

My ID keeps telling us to pay up the rest over and over again, like afraid we will run off and not pay up. babe, pls do not pay up until its completed, and you're satisfied with the work given by ur ID... given the history of the ID u described in the earlier posts, u better protect ur wallet and be cautious abt it k? cus once u pay up, u got no edge over your ID... if there are any defects, any small minor/major defects u want them to fix, i think trying to get them to come back to fix it will be like trying to move a mountain... wennykoh 2 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 My ID revised the quotation as we had 2 last minutes additional items (build a wall behind the toilet bowl as there is some distance to the wall & added a row of mosaic) for the 2nd level common bathroom, thus he also re-stated the contract that complete payment after he did the acid wash of the place. We requested for him to do the acid wash after we have completed the rest of the reno but he refused. He said that acid wash need to be done in order for us to check on the workmanship of the tiling and inspect the tiles and he could repair or touch up when needed, before he handed back the keys to us for the rest of the reno to be carried out by other contractors. In order to avoid being chase for payment every time, we paid off the rest of the balance. We just keep our fingers cross that he will do a good job for my kitchen cabinets and the rest of the toilets fitting.

wennykoh 2 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 Hi wenny, It's been quite sometime since your last update..... .... just wondering/concerned howz your reno going on & best wishes on the New Year 2010. Cheers! Hi CJREDDEVIL, Thanks...Happy New Year 2010 to you too. Haven't got the time and energy to update my reno progress. Was very busy at work by the time came home only want to be potato couch and watch TV Here is the update of my reno: My new window and grill installed liao and my house look a lot brighter as the previous own did translucent film in every window except living room and balcony window. We did not like it so we changed to white coated aluminium with green tented glass window. The grill installed by the previous owner was changed as well in order to match the white coated aluminium. Picture of one of the bedrooms before previous owner moved out, see the window. My parquet flooring for the 3 bedrooms & recess area on level 2 and timber board for my stairs were installed 1 week ago, the contractor will do the 1st layer polishing tomorrow and follow by another time 1 week later. My house wiring points, false ceiling and painting done, only left with kitchen lights, living room spot lights and 2 hanging lights (1 dining & 1 staircase) haven't installed. Then follow by paint touch up and acid wash of the place. My ID is going to measure the kitchen cabinets space tomorrow. I have another headache as the installation of my utility room air con piping went through the wall where my cooker hood and kitchen top cabinets area. My ID said it has to be re-located somehow and should not cross where my cooker hood area. Tomorrow my hubby is going to meet him and hopefully the air con contractor is able to make it there too to solve this.
