This store carries quite cool stuff? They have a store at IFC and another at Woodlands. I would appreciate any feedback from this store.

Hi Pekkle

let me share my experience with Living Instinct.

I purchased a 3 seater sofa set priced at almost $2500. Cream colored, 'full Carrera leather' as stated in the invoice. About 1.5 yrs later, it started to peel and decolorise at specific areas, only on the backrest and headrest. (I shall not attach any photos of the damage here lest it offends any Living Instinct fans. Those interested can PM me for it.)

I called up the company and was told that a replacement of the leather could be done at $1600, of which I would pay $800.

I refused the arrangement and no compromise was made. Further calls and emails to their boss were ignored.

Subsequently, I went to the Small Claims Tribunal and successfully obtained a favourable order for a leather replacement at no cost. Replacement was not done by the deadline and a 2nd favourable order was obtained to enforce the first order, failing which, to reimburse the cost of the damaged item.

Am still waiting for the 2nd deadline to run through...

Hi

I would love to share my experience as to the aftermath of this fiasco which has spanned over 8 mths and counting.

It's not so much about the sofa now as it is about justice. Hopfully my experience with Living Instinct will send a warning to all other furniture shops hoping to pull a fast one over unsuspecting customers.

:)

Anyone visited IFC since October 2010? Can someone verify if this company is still operational, closed for renovation or shifting out?

Appreciate any help rendered.

Thanks

Hi everyone

The matter is finally resolved with a cash refund of the damaged sofa.

The question is...I don't know where chilla 18 heard the news that they are closing from. A call made to their office was also answered by a lady who confirmed they are closing, with the intention of moving out of the premise. I made a trip there 5 weeks later and they are still there!!! So chilla18, whoever you are, are u one of their insider??

Anyway, as per my last post, the 2nd order deadline ran out and nothing was heard from them. I went on to file a writ of seizure. Lotsa paperwork and running ard and filing costs involved too. But as I said before, I just want justice. A couple hundreds, to me, is worth paying to see justice done!

So seizure was set on a certain day. And on the eve of the seizure.....my wife got a call from Ben. He has decided to refund the amount as of the last order.

I could have carried on with the writ and claim back all the expenses and interest as allowed by the court. But again, it's not all abt money isn't it? JUSTICE is the word.

To those who have a similar ordeal, i urge you not to give up.

Cheers!

Thank you for sharing

Hi Yukkeen,

I trust that we have already settled the matter with you in good faith. Hence, I request that you do not express any negative views to our customers as customer service and product service issues differ from case to case.

Appreciate your kind understanding.

To all parties in this forum, please do not spread unnecessary rumours that my wife is a Mediacorp artiste. My wife is NOT a Mediacorp artiste & she has never work in Mediacorp before.

Yours,

Ben

Hi Ben

I respect this mutual understanding that we had and that's the reason I refrained from making sweeping statements about the company or their goods or even uploading photos. What I shared was solely objective.

Having surfed this forum for some time now, i've read that quite a few of us had similar experiences, not just with your company but many others as well. What I am doing here is basically to let them know that there is an avenue they can turn to, instead of taking the bitter pill and calling it 'arse luck'.

Hope this clears the air.

Hi all,

I regretted having found this forum and reading this threat too late. However, I still want to air my bad experience dealing with this store thus bringing this threat up again.

In Jan 11, I bought a flexible L-Shape sofa from the said store with the promise to deliver before CNY. My order was for a custom made 2.7m (display was 2.5m) full leather sofa and sales rep Winson gladly accepted my request. To my surprise, delivery took place one week ahead of CNY. But it wasn't what I had ordered, they delivered a 2.5m. I called up sales rep to check and was told that shipment was messy and wrong set was delivered to me. He will exchange after CNY cos their China manufacturer was closed. More than one week after CNY, I called again. This time sales rep said manufacturer claim that the sofa cannot do 2.7m cos the sliding mechanism cannot support the size and weight and that was his mistake to accept my order size. (for the record, some other sofa makers can do various length for the same sofa).

Learning that what I paid is not what I get, I ask him for compensation. He refused and offered to get his China manufacturer to accomodate my request by adding more support to the structure. It was getting to my nerve now that when I ask two days ago when can he deliver the sofa and he said his manufacturer hasn't revert to the feasibility of a 2.7m. And since it was all radio silence.

As of today (one mth after sitting on the sofa), I was the one whom kept calling back to check on the status when he promised to revert. Seems like the impressive sale pitch and professionalism has gone into the drain, not to mention the after-sales service. I am starting to think I have been taken for a ride.

So to Ben, if you care about your business, customer service and product, I urge that you look into the case. I stress that I am not here to create trouble for any party, just trying to get a fair deal and hoping for a amicable settlement.

To all other forumers, you may want to take a leaf from here when you step into this establisment.

Hi all

I had the same experience as Cupidth. I recently threw away a L shaped sofa bought from Living Instinct in June 2009. Paid over $2.5K for it. Shortly after a yr, the seats started to peel off. Was thinking of calling them to ask for repair or something but decided that its too much of a hassle. Did not know of this forum then. Now I know I had bought a "crappy" "full leather sofa" which only lasted slightly over a yr. My previous full leather sofa lasted over 10yrs.
