user101 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 HDB are design for single loading, so you can't build "another build up area". It is not truth that all condo can build "another build up area", it depend whether they are build for double loading.

berry_surprise 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 pardon me for my childish drawings. I have a few qns, will anyone please ans for me. 1) I don't have intentions to have wall tiles in my kitchen, will the top kitchen cabinets be strong? 2) Which is safer? suspended bottom kitchen cabinets / those all the way to the floor. 3) how to calculate the total length of my proposed kitchen cabinets? TIA.

TIA. top kitchen cabinets strength does not rely on wall tiles. as long as your bolts are strong, it's okay. otherwise may drop. suspended bottom kitchen cabinets are safe if your bolts are strong, otherwise may drop. those all the way to the floor even if drop, you won't notice but if kitchen flood, your cabinets gone case assuming there are no L corners, it's the total length. if there are L corners, most contractors/IDs will add 2 ft per corner due to the overlap. obviously, this is not fair, but they don't care
berry_surprise 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 hmm so in my kitchen cabinets design, i calculated it to be 36ft (am i right?) anyway I like to also ask about...What do u think of D'esprit ID? The weird thing about them is that they have Project Consultant who supervise only the reno and never give much design ideas. then they have Interior Designer who specializes only in drawings. I really find renovation a scary thing, even before it starts.
melvin 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 hi berry, wonder what program do you use to develop your floor plan design? or is it developed by your ID?

I really find renovation a scary thing, even before it starts. you know, i always thought i gave enough allowance, but there are some things that we don't think of. like the size of electrical trunking, the diameter of plumbing piping, how best to run them, water pressure, resistance, electrical resistance, etc. Now I have to consider using a carpenter's help to do up my top kitchen cabinets. But I am wondering if they will do only 6 ft May be too small to do. If I let them do the other 8 ft (which I can simply get from Ikea), I wonder how much more costly it will be. dugong6 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2010 so today i picked up a pencil and attempted drawing. Hi may I ask how long is your kitchen? Mine was around 7.3m. However I "expanded" my living room space into the kitchen and realised that L shape design like the above picture is not appropriate. Yours will be fine if you are maintaining your kitchen space. Do take note of the walking space between the washing machine and the wall..a comfortable space will be around 1.2m. As for the high ceiling, you may want to consider a "second" storey bed while you make good use of the space below it. Really love your high ceiling!
Chinchye 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2010 Hi Berry, U have very very high ceiling.. can i know which area? looks very cool!!
berry_surprise 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2010 @melvin the program is a freeware (http://www.floorplanner.com/) at first I used Autocad to draw 3D then I found out Sketchup (http://sketchup.google.com/) is so much faster to draw. @ossify i agreed, the switches n wires brackets are headache. So I can only estimate the length. I also like Ikea kitchen but after adding up all the costs, I think Ikea kitchen a bit expensive, what do u think? @dugong6 the storeroom will be hacked so i will have about 3ft left after installing my estimated 36ft kitchen cabinet. So i intend to extend all the way to 39ft. i'm not very sure of the length, I think a professional to do it for me. my guess is that HDB will not allow a "2nd" storey to be build. @chinchye it is at BB. @rondy how i wish i could do whatever i want to this flat of mine.
