nolit 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 In the progress of finalizing the lighting plan... anyone able to provide some feedback and suggestion on the light points (especially the down-light needed in term of practicality and visual). We have some plan for MBR thus not in the drawing. After some long discussion, intend to do false ceiling for all living, dining and walkway areas, thus the down-light. Reiki 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 hi nolit, When I was doing my reno, I learned that HDB has regulation about height to ceiling limit. The only downlight that can fit within the height of my false ceiling is using halogen due to its small casing height. The one thing I like with halogen [though it is said to transmit more heat] is the dimmer function. Alternatively, you can source for LED casing and using LED lights. Your living/dining lighting plan is something like mine. Err, I kaypoh to re-route based on your original. The blue is a two way lights - one switch at entrance and another switch near bedrooms. And, a line of four downlights to a switch. You may want to even-out each of them to cover your whole living area. Just as your original light plan, I have 4 halogen downlights and a hanging dining lamp at dinner area. Personally, I hardly switched on the dining halogen downlights. Hence, these 4 lights are wasted. You can have a dimmer to your hanging dining lamp to create different ambience.

nolit 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2009 hihi amrasenelya, oh man you nick is too hard to spell! Yes! the sink will be at the end of the wall and the WM will be beside the sink. fridge will be beside the tall cabinet. originally it was an all white kitchen, but my wife gave me and idea that a feature color tall cabinet will be nice... we decide on red because i read somewhere that red gives the kitchen a more spacious look... well with the hood and hob and WM and fridge all in i hope i will be nice! yes the shelter door was covered by a wall.. nope didn't do any storage since the width of the wall is like very small... did see some coffee table at OM but they are not very convincing for me for now... i will go back and relook... nolit 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 hi amrasenelya, i'm back after another hectic weekend, i think i drove like 250km over 2 days... ok the kitchen solid top has some major problem as one side was not straight and left slanted gap which is not acceptable... need to retify or even redo that part... haiz... see how my contractor is going to settle that. he's also angry that the solid top people didn't change it and instead sealed it up... painting is 90% done, haiz the place looks purplish under lighting when we chose lilac white for the walls... is there no white that is closing to white but not matex white? some stainless steel stuff to be fixed up, a light to be fixed... I would say the place is 90% completed... I gotten a silver metallic fridge and a white WM (both samsung)... I think the metallic fridge will complement the otherwise overly red/white kitchen... i like my dark grey kitchen tiles too... i think my contractor is going to finish up and wash up today and tomorrow doing some rectification, wed going to install a glass door and a shower screen (broken during dismantling)... so the real handover may not be realised till tue/wed bed is going to come in on 22nd and the rest of big items coming on 28th... we did went to hommage (near my current home), price is good, the boss is friendly, except we are not too sure about the quality. for now i cannot really convince myself on the workmanship yet... but i would recommend anyone to visit there to take a good look, they have most designs currently the market has at an unbeatable price (but the boss will frankly tell u that the workmanship may lose out a bit), then again, some shops in FM and IFC also selling similar stuff, similar average workmanship at a price 100% higher. still finger-crossing good luck!
