Hi Everyone,

I have been reading this forum, soaking tons of info that everyone here contribute ever since I signed my OTP in Sep 09 to get this HDB 5rm in Shunfu.

1st Appt is scheduled on 1st Dec and I est my 2nd appt will be around mid Jan or so.

Have been spending almost every weekend looking at reno stuff and also trying very hard to get quotes from all the good contractors recommended by friends here. I am leaning to engage a contractor and not an ID as my reno is rather simple type.

Will try to update and post more photos upon getting my keys in Jan 2010, meantime here is my floorplan.

Initial plan is to

1. Redo both toilets and kitchen, meaning everything to go. Reposition common toilet door to enable me to fix a glass shower screen there as well as the MBR

2. Laminate for my bedrooms and probably Living/Dining area as well.

3. Level up the balcony to make the living room more spacious

4. Rewiring whole house

5. Replaster whole house wall and ceiling

6. Carpentry works for wardrobe in all bedrooms

Any suggestion welcome as I plan to confirm the contractor in Dec, probably would not rush for CNY Handover as it is almost impossible.

Thanks

Hi All,

Just an update, been thru my 1st appt today and completion scheduled to be on 19th Jan 2010.

Guess will be busy focusing on selecting my contractor from now till then.

As timing is close to CNY, will probably start my reno immediately after the CNY holidays.

Wish me luck.

It has been a real tiring process trying to select my renovator. My priority is as follows:-

1. Responsible and Reliable Contractor

2. Good Price/Value

3. Good Workmanship

Though there are some recommended here that meets some of these priorities, I have selected and confirmed today to have ID Note, Henry, to work on my reno. To me, Henry is very easy to talk to, also very practical person. If he cant do it, he will tell me in advance, when he say he giving my a quote, I do received it on time. So far the discussion with him and Michael is pretty good, can click. Also impt is their price is one of the best, not the lowest but very detail, no hidden cost like some other companies that quoted me.

Hoping that my selection is correct and no major hiccups in the path ahead.

If nothing goes wrong, I plan to have my reno starts in end Jan, hopefully hack and lay some tiles, break up for CNY holidays and start again on the rest of the work to complete by end Mar.

Will post more pics when the reno starts.

We went down to SBH to select our tiles today. The experience of tile selection is really hardwork.

1st when we reached there, we were more or less settled on some tiles and designs, then as we see more and more (and also learn more and more), the real headache starts. We decided to focus on each area, start off with Living/DIning, kitchen, Common toilet then master toilet.

Some we like but low in stock, so we have to settle for 2nd best.

Anyway, after 3 solid hours of staring at all sorts of tiles, we have decided on all the selections, took samples back and hopefully we will still like it after the next few weeks before we confirm the order.

Anyone here have such similar experiences?

We are glad its over (until we change our mind). Haha
