Angel81 1 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 Angel, we wont be doing a full height feature wall with a swivel for tv separating the study area and bed, cus will make the room very much smaller, n i feel a lil claustrophobic... so will prob be having a normal tv console, and a lazy susan for tv on top of it... so dat we can watch tv from both sides if we want! anyone noes where to get a lazy susan for tv? hopefully can support 26/32 inch lcd tv.. saw one at ikea, <$20, but can only swivel 60degrees... we need one dat can swivel 180 degs... ever considered using this? Haha! I was going to suggest something like ossify's! I saw pics of pple doing a swivel tv without the full height feature wall before. It's sort of like a floor to ceiling pole (sth like pole dancing those pole), and the tv is fixed to the middle of the pole. Rather cool.

Angel, we've seen sth like this but from floor to maybe half height pole at the OM warehouse, but cannot put tv console already, cus that pole thingy on its own already quite space consuming.. amrasenelya 1 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 we've a tiny issue when we went down to the site for a visit with our contractor... There's a funny beam in the MBR which kind of already dictate how far away our bed will be from the window wall.. bedside tables of different widths... does it look weird? True true. I think ur ID should be able to do a lazy susan for your tv bah. we've a tiny issue when we went down to the site for a visit with our contractor... There's a funny beam in the MBR which kind of already dictate how far away our bed will be from the window wall.. bedside tables of different widths... does it look weird? My MBR is also like this, just that our difference is not that big. We just made do, and placed the bed like in ur drawing. So far it looks ok. But ~20cm is really a tiny space between the bed and the wardrobe. Think it'll be better to flush the wall with a false wall.

There's a funny beam in the MBR which kind of already dictate how far away our bed will be from the window wall.. bedside tables of different widths... does it look weird? Hihi Amrasenelya, Do you have a pic of that funny beam? How low is it? Pretty hard to imagine. You have seen my place, my mbr also got a weird beam at the mbr that cut inbetween just on top my bed position, but dropdown only 4inches unlike the normal beams of 13-15" dropdown. We asked Henry to do a false ceiling to hide that weird structure. Er... you might also want to consider the curtain in the measurement and whether to have curtain just to cover the window length or all the way to the wall behind the bed. I just look at my office ruler, 20cm is very short. Bedside table of 20cm width, seems too short to be useful. If the distance/allowance between the bed and the back of the wardrobe is 20cm, i feel that it might be too tight. My personal view.
amrasenelya 1 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 oops.. hehe sorry, the floor planner diagram of our floor plan did not showcase that "column" in our main bedroom... the weird column is as shown here... Rasp, i think urs is a horizontal beam above ur bed? mine is a vertical column beside the bed.. for which there is a funny tiny vertical window also, (like ur living room, but which u boxed up)... and our window in the main bedroom is only a small one.. so i think wont have any issue with the curtains.. thanks though! anyways thanks ossify and Angel, cus we'd thought abt leveling with a falsewall behind the bed long time go, but forgot about the idea totally... bad memory! indeed, 20cm is very very small.. if we flush against the false wall, we might still be able to get a 40cm space on both sides of the bed.. amrasenelya 1 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 we're havin a dilemma in choosing the laminates for the back-side of our wardrobe (which is also the side our bed is facing)... we want it to be in a light colour so that it wont make the area look more cramped and smaller than it already is.. we want some textured laminates as most of the living area and kitchen are already in plain white laminates... These are EDL laminates, area size of this shld be 2.5cm by 2.5cm.. cant really imagine how it looks like on the back of a 8ft full height wardrobe.. so might be goin down to the warehouse in SK to see the actual thing... any comments? I like the first one. The texture can be seen better also. The 2nd one's texture may not be as stand out as the first when it's one big piece.
ossify 1 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 i'd go with the 1st one, unless you don't want the textures to be noticeable

Good Morning Amrasenelya, Between the two, I prefer the first one also. But hor, if given a choice, I would prefer those laminates that are not texture. Hee.. cause I think dust/dirt are likely to rest on those 'pop' out area. Hee.. my personal perference.

Angel, im not sure yet, but i think the 20cm walkway on the right side of the bed is really pathetic.. but also depends on exactly what direction our house is facing after we get the keys and remove the main gate.. Initially i wanted to do a feature wall behind the bed, a magnified version of my 1st laminates.. Dun have the pic now, tonight den upload... hee Yah, we also like the 1st laminate, but duno if it'd be overwhelming when its on a big piece of wall... Will go down n check out the actual thing and post it up! Good Morning Amrasenelya, Between the two, I prefer the first one also. Rasp, yah, i also worry abt the dust part of it.. but if white glossy laminates, then the one who's sleeping facing the wardrobe can see reflection... dats why we were considering textured.. anw i like your house cus u keep it simple and easy to maintain! Actually i think the pop out is not very thick, maybe like 0.5mm? i think..

How about with padded bedhead instead of the laminate? Then ur can save on buying the bedhead. Kill 2 birds with one stone - flush that wall and also have a bedhead.
