Both are appliances that are designed to be built into your kitchen cabinets. You need to get your carpenter to cut a hole of precise measurement to house this oven

Build-in ovens are those normal ovens for baking. Build-in Microwaves are... erm. normal microwave ovens. Bascially they are what they are called, just they do not have those external nice metal casing as they are meant to be hidden.

There are another type called conventional microwave. They combined the features of both a normal oven and a normal microwave. So you got a 2 in 1 device. You can also take advantage of both features together to get the 'brown' effect at microwave cooking speed

For baking and roasting is conventional microwave good enough as compare to an oven ?

I'm using an external conventional Microwave (Sharp R-898M(S) ) as my kitchen has no space for 2 appliances. I asked my ID to cut a hole in the kitchen counter to house the standalone conventional Microwave. Hence, my kitchen looks like macham I have a built in oven like that.

Current what I have done are simple roasting and baking of cookies. So far so good, not much complaints. However, I found that the recipes need to be slightly tweaked to achieve a better result. My suspect is that the size of my machine is smaller, hence, there is more heat variation within the oven cavity. I believe you may get better results of you get a full sized built in oven (conventional microwave or conventional oven).

Think that is what cooking is all about. experimenting and trying until you understand the characteristics of the various equipments and cooking modes.
