got a quote from star bamboo, to lay a 25 sqm room, it cost more than 3k. which is a few times more expensive than parque flooring, if the properties are similar, why go for bamboo with such high cost?

Bamboo is beautiful in the sense that you have broad thick long strips compared with Parquet which usually comes in narrower, thinner and smaller strips of wood. Besides being hardy, it is environmentally friendly. The only set back like what Sunnyheart mentioned is the price.

You cannot compare bamboo flooring to parquet flooring.

Aside from being an eco-friendly product, bamboo flooring is meant to last a lifetime. It is harder than oak and teak. It can also be sanded down and refinished. You can't do that with parquet flooring.

One thing I don't understand is bamboo is in such huge abundance in China. The price should be fairly low, yet the finished products of bamboo cost so almost or even more expensive than parquet.

Yes, you are right that bamboo are abundance in China and the price there is very affordable compare to imported laminated flooring. I have gone ahead with bamboo flooring but it is for my apartment in China. I cost me only S$3k plus to lay for 100m2...and it is above average grade bamboo flooring. It is so common in China and it will take a while before it is competitive against those laminated flooring here in SG.
