adidaem 6 Report post Posted August 21, 2011 Such a happy home... I bet kids love your place right? Really reminds me of Disneyworld! Looking forward to your 2nd phase photos when completed (or we'll probably see it in some mag right?). Thanks for sharing your experience on my blog. I read about it earlier (silent lurker of your blog lar) but didn't want to bring up your unhappy memories by asking you. So AIG is the only one that doesn't require violent entry for claims huh? Makes sense cos if locks are picked, then it's not a violent entry right? We are also looking at home security monitoring (e.g. Cisco or ADT)... do you have any thoughts/insights on those services? Mickey M 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 Ha. Nope. Urs deserves to be in he mag, not mine. My reno is too kiddy to be in any reno mag. Yes. The inspector was telling us it is very easy to pick a lock and open aluminum window grilles. Even if u lock ur windows (regardless sliding or non sliding type), those trained burglars can easily open it by making a small pin hole somewhere. Sighs. Anyway, best not to buy corridor units with panel of windows. 80% of the 1000+ cases every yr took place at such units. I would suggest buying AIG home insurance becos u don't need to proof violent break-in. In my case, my window lock was damaged but doesn't warrant as a form of violent break-in. U are already traumatized and it really drain u to go to the insurance company to dispute th case.I looked into home security systems previously but didn't go ahead with it. Installation cost around $800 plus and u pay a monthly fee of $30 to $40 plus inclusive of a new telephone line.Such a happy home... I bet kids love your place right? adidaem 6 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 Aiyo, don't be so humble. Your reno is definitely unusual and not cookie-cutterish. I agree it's not to everyone's taste, but it certainly deserves to be featured cos it's so unique. I'm guessing u have a huge collection of Disney memorabilia to go with the decor too? Ya... scary stuff all this corridor living. I also read abt how easy it is to get into corridor units. Will share in my blog if I find a decent offer for security. Ha. Nope. Mickey M 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 Yup, not to everyone's taste. . Personally, Magazines usually go for eco designs or plenty of wood furnishings these days. Hmm, if I didn't go for a disney theme, perhaps. . Overall, we love the flow of the curves. Yes, have a decent collection of disney products. Hee. Still missing display stands for 2 statues. Intend to put them at the 2 corners of the walkway. Sighs. Cannot find the right pieces off the shelf. Guess really have to custom-made.Thanks. Let me know if you find a right price for home security. FYI, most are wireless systems these days. Aiyo, don't be so humble. Your reno is definitely unusual and not cookie-cutterish. I rem see a Hello Kitty house featured on TV program before. Yours is the Disney version. Who knows right? Maybe yours will be featured on TV too? It's unusual homes like yours that gets featured on TV. Re: statues. Oh that is what the mirrored stands are for? Yeah, prob have to custom-make - I also never see before. Come to think of it, your place n mine is totally different in terms of colour (colourful vs white) and lines (curved vs straight). LOL. Think your Panton chairs go really well with the kitchen counter btw.

A French company just launched Dipline technology which is cost effective compared to optical fibre and traditional LED installations had arrived last month. A very innovative and simple concept. Just a conductive panel to be mounted to the ceiling and a connector to power up the board and just have to pin LEDs according to your design for the starry sky. their website is www.diplineasia.com
