choppy 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks to folks here. Somebody may have done this before but let me “repay” my gratitude by providing my guide to sourcing electrical appliances. The below items were bought recently after more than a month of constant calling and checking. Fridge – Brand : Bosch Model : KGN36S20 Color : White Price : S$1,900.00 Gift : None From : Mega Discount Store (Katong) Washer – Brand : Electrolux Model : EWF-1073 Color : White / Grey Price : S$965.00 Gift : S$150 voucher from Robinsons. From : Mega Discount Store (Katong) Television – Brand : Samsung Model : UA40B6000VM Color : Black Price : S$2,199.00 Gift : Delivery and installation From : Audio House (Comex show) Just to give you an idea. You need to be extra diligent in conducting the price checks. I have used up 5 weeks to check the different prices at the 5 major cheapest stores and conclusion is prices change every week. In fact, on the same day, you can get different prices as well because different sales personnel will quote you different pricing. The 5 stores that I checked are: 1) Aik Leong – Queensway 2) Parasilk – Katong (New store and cheapest amongst its other stores) 3) Goh Ah Bee (Hougang) 4) Hong Liang 5) Everjoint For (1), the only auntie will quote the cheapest. For (2), look for Andrew. He is so called the one of the PIC in the store and quoted me the lowest For (3), look for Ivan. He is sincere and is willing to communicate through his HP For (4), cannot remember who but better to make a trip down. For (5), the uncle and auntie who mend the store are nice people. You may find it amazing that the major items I bought were not from them. In fact, I was so set to buy from Parasilk on that day but they told me to pay only cash. So I walked to Katong Mall to look for the ATM before passing by Mega Discount store. Being cheeky, I asked about the prices and they quoted me at exorbitant price than Parasilk. I tried my luck further and asked if they can match. Surprisingly, they relented and they manage to quote a tad lower than what Parasilk had asked for. For TV, the best time is only during IT shows. But you must be extra patient. Wait for the HAPPY hour and you may get better deals than other period. For TV, prices will drop at every IT show. For Fridge and washers, they hardly move. In fact, sometimes they may move higher. Hope the info helps!
